Chapter 15: The Origins of Us - Part 2

Eve saw Tema's hand, almost, dangle in the air as a coating of sorrow covered him like a viel. Eve looked at her own hand "Eve..." whispered Aurora making Eve turn to her Aurora "go on"  who made a gesture "take his hand" Eve was quite unsure...but she slowly reached for his hand...and then gently enclosed it in her

"Tema...I was...alone too" said Eve slowly "As soon as I woke up I was working with...the boss. I didn't know anything of the world...or what had transpired. To him...we were just soldiers, expected to do a job without complaint. All I knew about the world...was what I was told by my group...which was; sentinels were slaves...and humans were evil. Rafiel was my only companion...but he didn't know anything either"

Eve then seemed to smile "but then...I saw you and how hard you defended Aurora and Yumi...and me. You...cared for me. Even though, I hurt you, you still took care of me. I felt like...I could belong somewhere. I saw the towns, talked with...friends; for the first time...I felt happy to be with everypne. So know...you're not...alone anymore...okay?" Tema weakly smiled

"Yeah...I know" replied Tema quietly "Aurora...do you mind doing something for me please? Could you...get my...picture please?" Aurora heard the weakness in his voice

"of course I can. You wait here okay" as Aurora went inside, Eve then felt Tema's hand clasp around hers, mildly shaking in her grip. 

Aurora after a minute came back. Aurora closed the door and gently handed Tema a small, cuboid shaped block.  Tema took the object, and after a tap...a holographic picture was shown. Tema looked at his family picture...with a mixture of pain and sadness "Mom...Dad...I wish...you were still here" Aurora knelt down to Tema and put a hand to on his shoulder "Aurora. If it wasn't for you I would still be..." Tema then put his arms around her tightly "thank you"

Aurora held him back with a smile "I have just as much to thank you for too. You picked me...out of everyone else. And you gave me just as much" Aurora then pushed him back "so I think we'll call it even" Tema then laughed

"yeah...even" said Tema happily which prompted Aurora to rub his head "well...after this competition is all said and done. I won't need to come here anymore. Well...we'd better go"

"Hey...Tema" said Eve "how are you...feeling now?"

"Erm...I...guess...not sad anymore" Tema then stepped to Eve "I...want to thank you too" 

"You do?"

"You know...for just...being here" Eve felt a wave of happiness spread through her body

"My chest...no longer aches but instead feels pleasant and calm"  Until she couldn't help but smile. Eve then looked at Tema "you're welcome...Tema" said Eve 

"Well...let's be off. I want to have one last look around the residential district...before we head off"

"Well then" Aurora said as she gestured out a hand towards him "let us go" Tema feeling very happy...took Aurora's hand...and began walking away from the house. Eve stopped for a moment and turned to the house

"Tema's Mom...Tema's Dad. Rest assured...we..." she then put her hands on her heart "and I...won't let him...be alone any more. Just as he's doing... for everyone else" with a bow Eve quickly followed after Tema and Aurora.

Tema, Aurora and Eve exited the lift at the residential district and walked out onto the busy streets. Eve looked round with a sense of wonder and curiosity "there...so much going off here"
