She made her way to the Ellis wing.

A mix of feelings devouring her sanity. She didn't know that she could ever feel this way. Feel the need for something so badly, yet know well it will never be in her right to grasp. That she will never fit the description for it.

All Summer Harrison could think of, could imagine, at that moment, was the visual of Lexis with another girl, under one roof. One life. One intimate beginning and ending that she is not a part of.

No visual had ever pissed her off more.

She barged into the room, and found Lexis and Anthony playing a video game together. Anthony had his eyes nearly inside the TV screen, and Lexis was relaxing back on the sofa, a snarky smile on his face challenged all her self-constraint.

I've known you more than anyone else.

I deserve you. I deserve you returning those heartless feelings I have for you.

I'm the one who put up with all your cruel, cold, heartless habits.

For eight years. It was me. If I feel anything for you now, then you better damn return it. Like I've returned your friendship.

"I heard the news." The words barely made their way out of her mouth, and she doubted he'd heard her. Suddenly, the anger she felt, the anxiety, depression, mania, the crazy rollercoaster ride of emotions made of love, jealousy and absolute hatred...watered down to the simple feeling of longing.

She wanted him for her. She didn't want to share the unchangeable Lexis Ellis. If there was one person that knew him, knew his past, knew his pain and his misery, it was her.

"What news?"

He heard her.

"You getting married, it's finally official, isn't it? Your father found the right one for you."

His right eyebrow twitched, and his jaw slightly tightened. "There are three inaccurate views in that sentence. I'm not getting married. It's not official." He looked over at Summer, his face losing all emotion and turning into a cold empty look. "And my father is not me to find the 'right one'."

Summer was dazed, lost in the mysteries of what the future held. Of where the direction all of today's event was going to lead them.

She sighed in defeat, knowing quite well that the competition had yet again been handed to the upper hand. It looked as though John had a thing for finding someone better and richer for Lexis and his corporation, one after the other. When Lexis finds creative ways to break an engagement off, his father would come back with someone a lot more challenging to lose.

"It makes sense why its her now, at least for him. She has a fortune, one at least ten times bigger than my family's combined."

"I don't care for her. I don't care for love. Marriage. I don't care for anything besides him." Lexis nodded his head towards his brother, who was fully distracted by the TV screen. Lexis looked over at Summer again, a smirk made its way on his lips. "Are you reconsidering marrying me?"

Like a bowling ball falling against a square of glass, Summer's loving thoughts shattered into a million pieces that turned into dust. "Are you insane?"

I can't admit it to you. Admitting it to you gives room for rejection and I can't handle that right now. Not with you being betrothed to someone else.

"I can't stand you." She walked over to Anthony and ruffled his hair. "I just wanted to know if it was true or not. Whoever she is, I might actually feel sorry for her." She looked at Lexis, who stared at her with his full attention. "It looks like it is if you got this angry about it."

His denial, it was angry denial. The type of denial Lexis would only ever feel when he loses full control over a situation.

"Oh, hey Summer!" Anthony said, turning around for the first time. "When did you come in?" He asked.

Summer rolled her eyes. "Five minutes before you got a reality check."

His eyes left Summer's face to the clock behind her on the wall. And his jaw dropped.

"Shoot. I'm late."

He turned around and dashed for the door. Before leaving, he turned and looked at Lexis. "Sorry bro, I'd love to beat you for the 973rd time on that game, but my soulmate has me on her schedule for an 8 o'clock date." He ran back into the room, grabbed his brother's cologne, and sprayed a squirt and a half on his shirt and neck. He winked at Lexis and dashed for the door again. "Rihanna baby, here I come."

Behind him, Summer stood with furrowed eyebrows and muddled thoughts. What the hell...
