"What pack was it?" Micky's cold fingers still skim the rough surface and her voice is soft. Lucifer sits still for a minute, debating whether or not he should share such information.

"Doesn't matter." The words fly through the air like broken glass. Micky sits silently.

"Is the silver-eyed guy the Alpha?" Lucifer growls loudly and turns around, his eyes tinting.

"Do not speak of him," Lucifer snarls in Micky's face. He touches his nose with his mate's and glares into her eyes. "Ever." Micky gulps and nods, pulling back. Lucifer returns to his old position.

"What was your family like, Lucy?" Lucifer ignores the nickname and clenches his jaw.

"My past does not affect you in any way."

"But I'm your mate! I care about you!" Micky takes her hands away from Lucifer's body and moves in front of him. Her wide eyes stare up at him, strands of her blue hair pushed behind her right ear.

"That doesn't matter." Micky reaches out and grabs Lucifer's hand, rubbing her thumb across his palm. Lucifer pulls his hand back and stands up, his throat closing. He picks up his plate and places it in the sink before heading towards the stairs. Micky follows behind silently with Lucifer's shirt.

Once the pair is lying down on their bed, Micky speaks again. "What about your parents? Do you miss them?" Lucifer lets out an annoyed sigh.

"No." Micky sits up and crosses her arms.

"Just tell me something!" Lucifer chuckles.

"I watched a knife go through my dad's neck. That's my best memory." Micky's mouth opens in shock and she looks over to meet Lucifer's eyes. The usual blue color is replaced with a color closed to black.

"Oh." Micky's closes her mouth and doesn't move. She closes her eyes. After a few minutes Micky can still feel Lucifer's eyes on her so she speaks again. "What did he do?" Her voice is quiet.

"I don't know," Lucifer mutters. He wants Micky to know why he's such a monster. He wants to be helped. But he can't open up.

"How did you get the scar?" Lucifer stops breathing. Micky turns her head and promises not to judge him in any way. She tells him that she's here, and that she won't be leaving. Once again Micky intertwines her hand with Lucifer's.

"One day I will tell you. I've already told you too much."

"Okay," Micky nods. "One day." And that ends their conversation. They both lay silently for at least an hour, their hands still linked together until Elliot rushes his. His eyes are guarded and a serious look is present on his face.

"Bates has left." Micky shoots up and rushes downstairs. She sees Meredith by the door with tear-filled eyes. Pain fills her heart and she pulls Meredith in for a hug. Meredith's group watches without a trace of emotion.

"Why did you promise my brother something that you couldn't keep," Meredith whispers as her first tear falls. She pulls back from Micky's embrace and looks at the pity-filled glance on Micky's face.

"Because I wanted to keep that promise. I thought that if I had someone counting on me I wouldn't mess up. But I had to protect my pack, Meredith. I couldn't watch everyone be killed. My hands reached for my weapon but I didn't plan to hurt anyone." Micky's eyes now fill with tears of embarrassment that she couldn't keep her promise and sadness. "I used to love him," Micky whispers as Lucifer comes down the stairs. He stops mid-step and lifts his chin while anger claws at his stomach.

Micky looks past Meredith and to Bates's pack. "I thought that he would be the one I would marry. We used to do everything together. My dad was so proud of me for being with Joshua and that only pushed me to like him more. I couldn't think of a future without Joshua. Then Lucifer kidnapped me and I started to see past him." Micky grabs Meredith's hands. "I didn't even see who it was. I stabbed him." Micky's voice shakes. "I plunged that arrow into his heart and he was gone. My first love." A tear falls. "He was trying to keep me safe, and I killed him for that." This time Meredith steps forward and hugs Micky.

"You kept your promise," Meredith murmurs. Words slam at the back of Lucifer's throat and his nostrils flare.

"So you agree that your brother left without a purpose, then. That he left you here with monsters for no reason." Lucifer walks towards Meredith with a scowl. Meredith takes a step back. She nods shakily and Micky steps in front of her.

"Enough, Lucifer." Micky sends a harsh stare his way. "We are not monsters. We did what any other pack would have done- we protected what is ours." Meredith looks up with a sniffle.

"That's not what Bates thinks." Micky steps forward with a soft expression.

"You are safe in here with us. No one will hurt you. That's all you guys need to believe; it doesn't matter what Bates believes." Micky connects eyes with a boy maybe 13 years of age. She sends him a small smile and Lucifer narrows his eyes. They'll have plenty to talk about tonight.

"Elliot, send a group of men to track Bates. If he is still on or near our territory bring him back." Elliot nods and heads up the stairs. "My mate and I will be upstairs." Micky raises her eyebrows but follows Lucifer to their room.

"I was touched by your speech about how you love another man," Lucifer starts. He holds a hand to his heart but a dangerous look plays on his face.

"Loved," Micky corrects.

"Same thing," Lucifer snaps. "And then you were flirting with that kid right in front of me!" Micky furrows her eyebrows.

"What are you talking about?"

"You were staring at that young boy in the crowd and smiling like he was Jesus on a horse or something!" Micky gives Lucifer a blank look.

"I smiled to reassure the boy because he was scared." Lucifer's still angry though. Angry at his life situation, his past, and Joshua. Bates leaving was the ticking point for him. "I gave the speech about Joshua to explain myself. I need to keep their trust, Lucifer."

"I don't care about anyone's trust. We were just fine without any of those kids. They won't be of any help anyway." His voice is cold and his eyes bore into Micky's.

"I'll sleep while you adjust your mindset. Those kids are beautiful and you will be happy that they are residing with us," Micky snaps. She pulls the curtains closed and lays down on the bed while Lucifer watches. He glares and leaves the room, slamming the door. Micky's ears catch the sound of their shower starting and she closes her eyes with a sigh. Bad day on his end.
