Fractured Reality - Coming at you live Friday from The Knitting Factory!

Says Y/n: "Drinks on you, music on me."

SOLD OUT

Yeah, sold out. As in, he had the last ticket in his hand.

Fractured Reality was a band he'd come to obsess over--that wasn't exactly an original statement, though. The little garage band was started by a girl by the name of Y/n L/n, and it evolved into an epic pop-punk genre-bending sensation as the songs she wrote started topping the charts. Usually, bands are led by the lead singers, and the lead singers often do most of the writing. In the case of Fractured Reality, the lead guitarist headed the four-person band, and she wrote most of the lyrics on her own.

He was pretty into her, but that wasn't exactly an original statement either. Thousands of boys had posters of her with her fingers caught in the middle of a solo, thousands of guys had shirts with her face on it. As strange as it sounds, the behavior wasn't uncalled for. Personally, he thought she was fucking smoking, and apparently a lot of other people did as well. It wasn't like a hardcore obsession, just something you can't really douse--and don't really want to.

Everyone in the band was attractive, but none of them were anything like the pop singers that dominated the music industry. Acne scars and freckles, beauty marks and straight up moles--when asked about this, each of the members gave some version of; "I don't feel the need to hide my imperfections from the world. I think people who don't have blemishes, who have perfect smiles and entirely elegant features are frightening. Are they human? I don't know. Maybe it's because they don't act like they're one of us, and they pretend like they don't look like us either."

It might sound strange--in fact, it definitely sounded strange--but this was exactly the thing a lot of people needed to see and hear. Their message was something between social-justice warrior talk and complete misanthropy--show your flaws because all people are equally terrible looking, and that's fucking lovely.

The quirky members, the good music, the great lyrics, and Y/n. That's what made the band so incredible. It was interesting to think that people who started out so normal were getting famous, and it was kind of crazy that they were all worth millions and yet they acted so normal. Hundreds of people had gotten pictures with Y/n, for example, at the dollar store. Someone who could afford to shop anywhere they pleased, at the dollar store.

She had a lot of interesting stories, which she told through interviews. All about growing up and going to college, something she advocated strongly to her fans. She'd had friends, she'd been alone, she'd gone through tough times and she'd run away from home. All of these things formed a character that he was really interested in. That's probably why he considered himself one of her biggest fans.

He was going to enjoy the concert, that's for sure. He'd probably take notes like a damn nerd, but it would be worth it. He wanted to watch the lead singer as he ground out the notes, the exact look in his eye when he did it. He'd muscle up close to the stage to be sure of that, that way he could observe and take in things. He'd been told he was already incredible, and even if that were true, you can always get better. If he wanted his band to gain any traction, they needed all the help they could get.

And, of course, he'd watch everyone as he enjoyed the music. He'd probably laugh and kick himself for it because he totally didn't have a crush on a stupid band member, but he'd probably watch Y/n too.

Even though they were more punk than metal, he still wanted to take into account bits and pieces of their style. Y/n herself had said; "The best bands have already been created, they are bits and pieces of other bands and other songs and they come out best if you aknowledge this."

Black Viel Brides was going to be as big as Fractured Reality--Andy was sure of this.
