Adam's POV

I was so damn happy. Avery liked me back, and now she was my girlfriend. Nothing could ruin my mood, even Jake and his girlfriend.

But something did kill everything. A single phone call from Tessa. A single sentence that broke my heart.

And it all started with one beep.

"Hey Tessa, what's up?" I asked happily.

"Adam," She sobbed, "Avery was hit by a car."

My smile, my mood, my heart. All broke.

Avery's POV

I slowly cracked my eyes open and was met with frantic eyes of doctors and nurses all around me. "She's awake." I heard.

I don't know why but I didn't feel the pain that I felt in the car. My eyes scanned the room meeting all the eyes in the room.

"Miss can you tell me your name?" I nurse asked staring at me.

"A-a..." I couldn't speak for the life of me. Before I could even try to tell her my name again whatever was stopping the pain wore off and the pain hit me head on. It hurt so bad I couldn't help but scream.

Then everything went black. I was happy to feel so numb again. I couldn't handle the pain. It was to much.

The next time I opened my eyes, the next thing I saw, weren't nurses and doctors, it was a pretty blue sky. All I could do was stare up at it.

Everything was calm. It wasn't hot nor cold is was the perfect weather. Soft fluffy clouds roamed the sky never covering the bright sun shining down on me.

Then voices broke the peaceful silence.

"Did they find anything that identifies her?"

"Yes her name's Avery Reed....She's only 16."

"Dammit. We can't loose her. Push another of epi. Book an O.R quickly."

"Come on Avery, don't give up. Someone go call her family."

Then they faded out. I shook out the voices in my head and enjoyed the peace again. I got up off the ground and looked around.

It was as beautiful as the sky. There was white hammock between two trees. There were many flowers, some I didn't recognize. The grass was a bright green and it seemed like life couldn't go bad. Everything was great and I never wanted to go back to that pain.

But it seemed like I didn't have a chance. I was back in the hospital, but I wasn't in my own body. I was a ghost it seemed like.

But that's when I seen my body being wheeled down a wide hallway. Then I seen two people wheeling down someone in a black bag.

"Poor guy was a victim of a drunk teenager," One girl said on the right side of the body.

The guy in the middle scoffed. "You do realize he was drunk guy right?"

The girl looked at him.

Then the guy on the left spoke. "I was in there with the girl, she's only 16, she was down for 5 minutes and luckily they brought her back. You can't just assume it was the teenager's fault."

The girl didn't speak another word. Are they talking about me? I sighed and walked around the hospital. I stopped dead in my tracks as I saw my sobbing aunt. Tessa was trying to console her but she too was a mess.

"She can't die," Aunt Charlie sobbed.

"Charlie." I heard a deep voice say. I watched as the man made his way to my Aunt. She stood up quick and wrapped her arms around him, sobbing into his chest.

"Colin," She cried out. I couldn't help but smile. So this was Colin. He was definitely head over heels for her.

I then watched as Tessa's mom walked to them with food and drinks. She held Tessa to her side and even herself shed a tear.

But then I couldn't help but put a frown on my face as Adam walked in with Jake. All Adam did was sit by Tessa with no emotion on his face.

That scared me.

I leaned up against a wall and closed my eyes. A heard a long beep in my head and furrowed my eye brows. When I opened my eyes I was back at the peaceful place.

But it was different. There was a single rose in the field of tulips. My smile dropped and I slowly walked towards the rose. I picked it from the ground.

As soon as I had in my hand from the ground I passed out.

This time my eyes didn't open again. All I could hear was a steady beep. I felt my hand being held and then the voices came.

"Charlie you've been sitting here for two days. Go home and shower, I'll stay with her." I think that was Colin.

"No, I have to stay with her."

"Charlie you have to take care of yourself. I don't know Avery but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want you to be like this."

Yeah, he would be right.

"Fine. But I'll be back really soon."

I heard a door open and then close. I heard a deep sigh from Colin and I felt him slowly hold my hand.

"This definitely isn't how I wanted to meet you Avery. But I did read people in coma's may be able to hear you so I'll introduce myself. I'm Colin, I'm dating your aunt and I'm pretty sure I love her. We've only been out a few times but I feel like I've known her my whole life. But Avery I know you have a special someone in the waiting room. His name is Adam, but you already know that. I heard that he just became your boyfriend two day's ago. The day of your accident. Then there's Tessa, your best friend who breaks down at school everyday, she's tough though and doesn't leave school. But Adam and her are here every day even though they aren't allowed to see you, but don't worry I'll try to convince someone to let them see you. It could be good for you." He said and continued, "Come on Avery you gotta wake up. You gotta at least start breathing on your own. Do it for the people who love you and the people you love."

I wanted to. I wanted to see Adam again and Tessa and I wanted to meet Colin for real. I wanted to breath on my own and open my eyes.

So what was holding me back?
