Chapter 14 : The Uncured Wound

AUTHOR'S POV










She was outisde, sitting quietly, waiting for the nurse.




The hospital was noisy as expected. The sound of beeps from the rooms and people crying worried Yuri. She hates hospitals.



This reminded her of her older brother who died years ago.



Yes, she has an older brother.



She doesn't really talk about him anymore. Her whole family doesn't talk about him anymore. But this doesn't mean that they don't love him.


Yuri kept blaming herself for her brother's death.




The reason why Yuri was sometimes tomboy because of her brother. They were pretty close.






FLASHBACK








It was after school. Yuri was waiting for his brother to fetch her.






"Yuri." His brother called.






"Oppa!" Yuri approached him.







"Oppa, Can I ask you something?"
She asked while both of them were walking.







"What is it?"








"You see..... There's this guy.... who asked me out for a date..... tomorrow. Can I-"








"No. Your not allowed to date yet. You're only 14."







"But oppa! He's the most popular guy in school. And I already said yes! I can't back out!"










"I said no. I'm sure Eomma and Appa wouldn't agree too." He said looking very calm.









"Oppa!"








"No."






"I hate you...." Yuri whispered.



Her brother heard it ofcourse. But he knows that Yuri was just angry.



They stopped walking as the pedestrian lights were red.



Suddenly, Yuri ran off to the road. She didn't know that the lights were already green. A big truck was approaching in her way.





Bbbbeeeeepppp bbbbbeeeeepppp!!!!





Yuri was too stunned to move. Her eyes grew bigger.





"Yuri! Get out of the way!!" Her brother shouted.





Yuri covered her eyes. But then, someone pushed her out of the way.




Yuri collapsed to the other side of the road.





She opened her eyes. She saw..





Her brother......






Lying onto the ground...






With blood oozing.....







"Oppa!!!!"

She ran directly to his direction.







"Oppa! Oppa!" she shook his shoulders.





"Y...Yuri....."






Yuri held his brother's hand and said, "Oppa! I'm ..I'm so sorry... This is all my fault-"






"Shhh... It's not your fault..."







"Oppa..'' Yuri cried.








"Yuri..."











And he was gone...






"OPPA!!!!"





FLASHBACK OVER








"Yuri? Um... excuse me."






Yuri looked up and it was a nurse.







"Sorry, did I bother you?"The nurse asked.







"Huh? Umm no." She smiled.








"You're Kwon Yuri right?"









"Uh. ye."







"You can go in the room now." She smiled.








Yuri went in the room, Tao was quiet. It felt Weird for Yuri .. she doesn't like the environment of hospitals..

He was quiet. Not a word.Shes not used to it. They always fight when they see each other.







She sat on a chair beside the bed and observed him. Wierd. He look so peaceful. He was sleeping. His eyes were closed. His lips are so perfectly formed!








"Umm. Excuse me Yuri, The doctor will be here in 3 minutes."







"Okay. Thank you."



The nurse then left.




Yuri then recognize that something was glowing on Tao's hand.






She thought she was just imagining stuff. Tao's hand was covered by the blanket.




"What the..."




Before she could take off the blanket,






"Tao!"




It was Kris and his brothers.





"Tao! Is he gonna be okay?" Asked Suho.









"I...Uh..." Before she could continue, a doctor came in.








"We're not sure if his gonna be okay." The doctor said.







Everyone turned to look at him.







"What do you mean his not gonna be okay?"








"There's a scratch on his body."




Everyone kept quiet for a while and they remembered that Tao was scratched by Taecyeon.



*wait, the scratch that Taecyeon caused?*-Chanyeol








*I thought lay healed it...*-D.O







*My healing must not be enough for the wound.*-Lay







"And the venom is spreading very slowly. Every time this venom is spreading, he will experience major pain."






"Wait, what scratch?" Yuri asked curiously.

Everyone looked at her.








"Can I talk to boys first privately? Miss? If ou don't mind?"

"Hahah! Really?"









"Yup. I almost slipped!"








Taecyeon's dad was making a joke. And to be honest...

I don't find it funny at all.





What's so funny about you slipping on the floor.

It happens to everyone.





It's a really lame joke.





But I was force to laugh. Eomma would nag again.









"So, about the wedding." Eomma said.






Oh. gosh...





"Oh yes! I just found a really good location for the wedding!" Mrs Ok said








"Really? Well that's wonderful!" Appa said.






"What about the wedding dress, Because My friend who is a very good designer is helping find a perfect dress for Sooyoung!" Eomma said.






They kept talking and talking and talking about the wedding. It was so awkward. They were planning the whole thing and I was just there listening to them. Taecyeon in the other hand kept smiling at me. I don't know why but I don't like it. I think he's trying to be friendly but... It felt different. It's like his evi-







"What do you think Sooyoung?"








"Huh?"







Eomma looked at me. Everyone looked at me. I didn't even listen to what they were talking about.






"Umm.. I think that's..uh.. a good I idea."








Eomma smiled and said, "Well that's great!"

What were they talking about?





"Are you sure dear?" Mrs Ok said.

Sure of what?






"Of course she's sure. She already said yes." Eomma said.






"Okay then! It's settled, The wedding will be in three weeks!" Mr Ok said.

Three weeks?!






The wedding cannot be that fast!

"You guys are wolves aren't you?"






The room was silent. Everyone was shocked and scared at the same time.

"You don't have to be afraid. I won't tell anybody." The doctor said.








"H-how did you know?" Asked Suho.









"Before I became a doctor, I was a wolf researcher. It's like a scientist but about wolves. I studied about wolves for years. But years later, I was banned for researching. They said that they weren't real so I lost money and people ...well.... hated me...."










"I'm sorry to hear that." Luhan said.








"Never mind. It's okay.Past is past."







"Ummm... So your not telling anyone about this right, doc?" Asked Xiumin.







"Don't worry, I won't. Now, about Tao's condition. He's your brother right?"







"Ye." Everyone said.








"As I told you, the venom is spreading through his body. I assume that he's been scratch by a wolf too. Am I right?"







"Yes."









"I'm sorry to say this but, this wound is..."









Everyone started to get worried.









"Is what,doc?"








"Is uncured."










"What?!"











YURI'S POV









"Yuri?"










"Taeyeon?"






What is she doing here?







"What are you doing here?" I asked.








"I heard what happened to Tao. Is he okay?" She asked worriedly.






"I don't know yet. The boys and the doctor are in the room talking. Were not allowed to go in."







Taeyeon sat down beside me and said,"Is that so? I hope he's okay."






"Are you okay?" She asked all of a sudden.








"Yeah, I'm fine. I just don't like the environment of hospitals."






"Ohhh." She said Nodding.








"Umm... Can I ask you something?"







"Sure." I said.









"Is Sooyoung okay? Cuz, I've been observing her for these past few days and she looks really depressed. I know that she's your best friend so....."








"Ummm... sorry I'm not allowed to tell anyone. Soo and I wants to keep it a secret."










"Please? I can keep a secret. I promise not to tell anyone."









She gave me a puppy eye look and I couldn't help but to say yes.





She's the eldest in the class but she acts like a kid. A kid leader.








"Okay, fine. She's forced to get married by someone she hardly knows.."








"What!?" She shouted. Everyone was looking at us.









"Shhhh.. Be quiet." I said.








"Sorry. Wait... Who... and... uh... why?! why would... Her parents agree to this?"









"I don't know.Her parents planned the whole thing. Insane right?"









"Yeah. I mean.. Why would they do that? why would her parents force her own daughter to get married a person she hardly know."








"Well... I don't know... It's kind of a rich people thing. They force they're child to marry for business."










"Just for business? I though her parents are already rich?"








"Selfish people I guess.."







"I pity her."








"Yeah. I can't even help her as her best friend. I feel horrible. She really wants to be a photographer. You should have seen the picture she had taken, they were beautiful."









"Wow. I didn't know she had this kind of life. It must be hard for her."









"Yeah. It's very hard for her."








AUTHOR'S POV










"Doc, what do you mean it's uncured?" asked Kris.








"So Tao will die?" asked Chanyeol.








"Maybe. Were not really sure yet. All I know is that the venom is too strong to handle any kinds of medicine. it will spread and spread until it reaches the heart. And if this venom is not taken away from his body, He will probably die."









"What? That can't happen!" Lay said tearing up.








"I'm sorry. We only have six to seven months or less than that for the venom to reach the heart."







"Doctor, you're a wolf researcher right? I'm sure you know how to solve this problem. Maybe you know any medicine? Please, I beg of you. I can't afford to lose one of them. please." Suho begged.










"I don't know boy... It will take months to create this kind of medicine. And I quit being a wolf researcher."








"Please! Please doc! please." Everyone said.







"Okay. I'll try my best. Give me time."










"Thank you so much! Thank you!"









"But wait, how much does it cost?" asked Chanyeol.








"Well, I have to find plants that is not easy to find and some chemicals.... It's about... A thirty thousand dollars in USA money."







"Thirty thousand?!"








"But doc, we can't afford that?"








"Well I'm sorry boys but I don't have that kind of money to make the medicine too."









"No. Well try to work this. I'm gonna work at any restaurants. A part time job." Chanyeol said.









"Me too. I'll try to find a part time job." Kai said.










"Me too." Chen said.







"Me too."Sehun said.









"Wait, should we tell Tao about this?" D.O asked.







"I think we should."










"No you shouldnt." Doctor said.





Everyone was confused why.








"Well if you tell him, he will get depressed which fastens the spread of venoms in his body."







"But we won't be able to know what will happen to him if he's suffering the pain."










"Don't worry. It will only happen once in two weeks.I suggest to watch him constantly. You will know when he suffers the pain when he will turn pale." The doctor said.







Everyone was really worried for Tao. The doctor left the room. The boys then gathered around his table.

He was still sleeping.







Kris was the one who got worried the most. He and Tao are very close.
