From The Journal Of Lorraine Ellis

March 16, 1924

I had almost forgotten just how wonderful it was to have a friend around who was not of the opposite sex. After being around Father, Wesley, and Jesse for some time now, it was almost strange. Of course, Jesse's mother, sister, and grandmother had been present most days, but this was different.

Tonight, we are off to a party celebrating her artwork. Many people in high society will be there just for her. They have embraced her talent and most of her works will be sold. We plan on purchasing one to hide the key in. At first, she had refused for us to plan on paying so much, but Jesse convinced her otherwise.

"An investment in her future, if you will," he'd said, as he held her daughter.

I could not help the stutter my heart gave when he then smiled at me as the baby chewed on his thumb.
