Chapter 21: Heartbreak

😎Alec's POV😎

"No. No no no no no. No no no." I kept on repeating until I realized the situation I was in. Brianna was running away, probably away from me forever. I  dashed out of the building after her and called her name multiple times, but she just kept on going.

I ran my fingers through my hair. What had I done? The blonde I had been kissing ran out of the aquarium and held onto my hand. "What's wrong baby?" She asked, trying to look sexy and stroke a pose.

"Fuck off." I said and shook her off. It was mean, but all I could think about was Brianna's broken smile. There was only one other time I'd seen her be so sad that all she could was smile while tears drowned her. It was when she had told me about her father and her ex, Mark. Never had I thought that her sad smile would be towards me. I rushed back inside to find Ben.

"Ben!" I said and hopped on stage. I held his hand and led him into an exhibit where no was was in.

"What's wrong dude?" He asked when he saw my troubled face.

"I messed up, big time, bro. Big time." I replied, tugging at my hair until tears welled in my eyes.

"What did you do?" He cautiously asked.

"I cheated on her. I thought she was cheating on me with you, but I was wrong. So wrong. She found me making out with some bimbo because I was confused, sad, and angry. I yelled at her for a little bit, but then you finished your speech and said that you were gay."

"Wait–what do you think about that? I mean, about me being... Gay?"

"Oh, that's fine. I mean, you're still Ben. And plus, you don't act all girlie and shit so we're fine." I replied.

"Thanks. Continue with your story."

"Then she said, 'I told you', and ran out of the building. Of course, I ran after her and yelled out her name but, she didn't stop."

"Wow. You fucked up." He nodded.

"No, but that's not it." I sighed. "She told me this—thing, about her dad and ex. If you want to know then ask her, I shouldn't be the one to tell you. But she told me about it once and she was so sad that all she could do was smile sadly and let the tears overwhelm her. It's pretty rare. Tonight I saw it though. And it was at me. My heart literally broke at the sight." I explained.

"Bro... I'm pretty sure it's not you that the most heartbroken, she's the most. You did cheat on her."

He was right. I exhaled deeply and shook my head. "You're right. I want to apologize, but I'm not sure if it's for the best if I go now."

"Dude... are you serious right now? Go get her!"

🌸Brianna's POV🌸

I woke up and felt my pillow damp. I sat up and looked at it, then realized it was tears. Rushing to the bathroom, I looked at myself in the mirror and saw that my face was tear-stained. I cringed at the sight and washed my face, then brushed my teeth.

Sitting on the bed, I thought about what had happened yesterday. It was  one of the most heartbreaking things to ever happen in my life. I opened the curtains a little bit and looked through the window to the house next door, where Alec lived. It hurt and disgusted me to know that he was probably still sleeping in the house right next door, in the room right next to mine.

There was school today, so I had to go. I couldn't just let a boy get the best of me and make me skip. So I grudgingly got up from the bed and changed into a light pink sweater crop top and Lulu Lemon leggings. I put on a pink and white pair of Converse, and a hot pink bandana in my hair as a headband. After I'd packed all of my things into my backpack, I went downstairs to eat my breakfast.
