Anna and Hannah study outside as the soccer and lacrosse teams practice. Anna keeps glancing up to see Liam taking a shot.
Hannah notices and snorts. "You're so into him."
"Maybe I'm not the only one." She mutters under her breath, hoping Liam doesn't hear.
Unfortunately, the next time Anna looks up, she sees Liam and Hayden eyeing each other. She keeps watching as Liam misses the goal. Hayden then kicks the soccer ball into the goal and smirks at the werewolf.
Liam then tries again and scores. He looks back at an annoyed Hayden with a smirk. She kicks and scores again. Soon, it becomes like a competition. Liam scores then Hayden scores.
Anna wants to look away, but can't keep her eyes off the interaction. Hannah takes notice and looks out to the field. "Oh hell no." Hannah growls.
"What?" Anna asks.
"If you don't see it, I won't say a word." Hannah says.
"You mean how they are basically flirting from afar?" Anna feels like she's chewing on gravel as she spits the words out.
"I'm so gonna—" Hannah's threat is cut off by a boy running onto the field.
"Does anyone here have asthma?" He yells. "Anyone got an inhaler?!"
"Scott." Anna realizes. She jumps up and starts to run into the school, ignoring the footsteps behind her.
"Move! Move!" She screams at the students crowding the doorway to the biology room. She slides to the ground next to her brother. "Where's his bag?" She asks Ms. Finch.
The teacher points to the forgotten bag and Anna attacks it. "Got it." She yells, taking out the green and white object. She looks back to see Liam crouching next to Scott. "Liam!" She throws the inhaler and Liam catches it. Liam puts the inhaler in Scott's hand but the Alpha does nothing.
"Scott." Liam calls his name. "Scott, come on." Anna hates hearing her brother wheezing.
"Eyes." She coughs. Liam takes the hint and makes his eyes glow gold.
"Scott." With his name, Scott snaps out of his trance and brings the inhaler to his mouth. He takes a deep breath before panting.
"Thanks." He tells Liam. He looks over at Anna who is shaking her head.
"I told you to stop almost dying." She hisses playfully. "See you after school."
She gets up and walks away before Liam could get to her. On the way out, she bumps into Hayden. "Oh, I'm sorry." Anna says.
"No problem." Hayden smiles.
"You're Hayden, right? Liam's friend from sixth grade?" Anna asks bitterly.
"I would hardly call us friends. He broke my nose." Hayden laughs. "I gotta go get ready for class. See you around, I guess."
Both girls part and Anna feels worse than before. Even better, note the sarcasm, Liam manages to catch up to her. "Hey." He greets, smiling.
"Liam, we need to talk." She tells him. His expression falls and she sighs. "Meet me in the halls after school, ok?" Without another word, Anna disappears in the sea of students.

Liam waits, like Anna asked him too. He has no idea what she wants to talk about. All he knows is that she's been acting differently and that when your girlfriend says 'We need to talk,' it's never good.
Anna finally summons the courage to make her appearance. Liam stands, facing her. "What do we need to talk about?" He asks. She almost scoffs but she manages to stop herself.
"I don't want to seem like a jealous girlfriend or obsessive, so I'm just going to ask." She tells him. "Do you like Hayden?"
Liam answers instantly, taking the question in the wrong way. "Yeah. She's a nice person."
This time, Anna does scoff. "I thought you would at least deny it."
"What are you talking about? Hayden's a good person." Liam's expression only holds confusion.
"Liam, do you know where I was the other night?" She questions.
"At home or with Hannah, like you always are."
"I was at Eichen." She snaps.
"Wait, what? Why weren't you home? Why were you there?" He starts to fire questions at her. She holds up her hand, fighting down tears.
"You were paying Hayden back." She reminds him. "I've been trying to talk with you alone for days. To tell you that I feel like I'm falling apart."
"Then let me help you." Liam says desperately. He takes a step towards her and she moves back. "What did I do? What can I do?"
"You've already said enough, Liam." Anna wipes a tear from her cheek. "I just..."
"You just what?" He asks.
"I don't know if I trust you anymore." She whispers, eyes glazing over.
"Anna, you can trust me. Where is this coming from? I don't get it."
"Me neither, Liam. Me neither." She starts to walk away when Liam calls after her.
"Anna, wait. What do you want me to do? Call you more? Text? I will do it."
"Don't." She says over her shoulder. "Just... Please don't text me." She bites her lip as she practically runs from the school, leaving Liam a confused mess.
*****************
A girl in a hoodie looks through the ice creams in the store. Anna tries to stay quiet and stop the tears flooding down her face, but they don't seem to want to stop.
She knows that Hannah is somewhere else in the store, looking for other goodies but nothing is going to make her feel better.
"Hey, you ok?" She turns at the voice to see Brett approaching slowly.
"Me? Oh, yeah." She sniffles, wiping her face again.
"You don't look ok." Brett teases, standing next to her.
"I'm fine. Really." Anna tells him.
"Even if I couldn't hear your heart beat, I would know you were lying." Brett reminds her.
"I'm just trying to find some ice cream." Anna lets out a watery laugh. "Too many different flavors."
"I just so happen to be an ice cream specialist." Brett smirks. "What do you need the ice cream for?"
"Oh, it's nothing. It's silly." Anna looks down, shifting her weight.
"It's obviously not nothing if your crying in the middle of the ice cream aisle."
"Way to remind me of how lame I am." Anna sighs. "No wonder Liam..." She stops, glancing at Brett. "Never mind."
Brett stays silent as he grabs a pint of Milk and Cookies ice cream. "It's great for boyfriend problems." He offers.
Anna gently takes the ice cream in her hand and smiles weakly. "Thanks, Brett."
"No problem. As I said, ice cream specialist." He jokes, walking away.
Anna sighs, having realized her tears have stopped. "There you are." Hannah marches over to Anna. "We gonna have a boy-hate sleepover where we hate on every boy ever or what?"
