Chapter 26: Stop Looking

Theo drags Anna out of the car with a strong grip on her forearm. She doesn't whine as he pulls her into the evacuating hospital.

He pushes past nurses and patients alike and rushes up to the fourth floor. Anna gulps in fear as she eyes the pieces of burning material and what used to be a hallway. Both chimeras sneak down the hall and see two beasts fighting. One of them is Parrish, his entire body alight with fire. The other is the Beast of Gevaudan. The Beast throws Parrish back which causes the supernaturals to duck and look away.

By the time Theo recovers, the Beast is gone and Scott, Stiles, and the sheriff have arrived. Theo waits for them to leave before pulling Anna up and moving towards the bloody prints on the ground. The animal prints turn into shoe prints.

Theo shoves Anna towards the prints. She falls to her knees with a soft groan. "What do you want me to do?" She asks.

"Use the gift you have." He hisses threateningly.

"I-I don't know how." Anna reminds him. Theo grabs her hair and pushes her face to the floor. She gasps as his foot presses against her back.

"Try." She nods quickly and he lets go. She gently moves her hand towards the bloody shoe print and touches it. She pushes down a noise of disgust as she stands back up.

"I got—" She cuts herself off with a gasp as visions cloud her mind. Her eyes close and she falls limp against Theo. She shakes in his grip from the images she sees.

"Anna?" He asks, getting worried. She slowly opens her eyes as a trickle of blood drips from her nose. Theo looks at her with concern. "What did you see?"

Anna looks back at the footprints in horror. "He's not alive." She states. "But he's not dead either."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean," She turns back to Theo. "We should be afraid. I saw what he did and he will kill all of us."

"Theo..." Anna groans as he pulls her into the school. "What are we even doing here?"

"We are getting some information on what your brother is planning." Theo tells her as he moves towards the library.

"Really?" Her eyes light up in happiness.

"Sorry, I should rephrase." He laughs humorlessly, coming to a stop in front of the library. "I'm going to talk to your brother. You are going to wait out here."

"But—" He grabs her throat and slams her against the brick. She gasps and feels his claws digging into her neck.

"But nothing. Stay in the first classroom to the right." She nods reluctantly and practically runs away.

She gets to the classroom and slams the door shut behind her. She sighs in relief and leans her head against the door. "At some point, you're going to need to stand up to him."

"You know what he can do." Anna scoffs. "I'm useless against him."

"Scott can protect you." Allison reminds her.

"And get killed in the process again? No way, Al." Anna looks back. Her eyes suddenly start to glow and she stiffens.

"Anna?" Allison asks cautiously. Anna ignores her as her eyes move around the room. Ghosts wander around aimlessly and she can see Corey hiding against the wall with his chameleon ability. Anna finally looks at a middle-aged man.

His lips twitch upwards into a smirk. "You can see me." He states happily. Anna nods once, noticing the thick french accent. "Good, do you know who I am?"

"The Beast." She breathes out.

"You've seen my work." He smirks. He takes a step towards her and she steps back in fear. "It is good to see someone fear me again. Have you figured out who I am yet?"

"No." Anna whimpers, continuing to walk backwards and towards the back wall. He keeps a steady, slow pace as he advances.

"Are you going to keep trying?" She gulps, eyes flickering to where Allison was. "Your friend isn't here anymore." He is suddenly up in her face, pressing her against the wall.

"Please don't hurt me." She whispers.

"I won't, as long as you stop looking for me." He tilts his head to the side. "Or you might end up like this." His hand grips her head and images of his victims fly through her mind. She screams as his claws scratch her arm.

She slides to the ground as she holds her arm, more surprise on her face than pain. She doesn't notice as three seniors rush in and over to her. "Anna?" One of them calls her name but she can't hear him.

"Anna!" Her eyes snap to Theo's before looking back at Scott and Stiles. "What the hell happened?" Theo demands.

Anna doesn't answer as she looks back at where the man that was known as the Beast once stood. "Whoa, you're bleeding." Stiles notices, grabbing her arm. She hisses in pain and jerks back.

"Who did this to you?" Scott asks softly.

"How do you know it's a who?" Theo questions. "And not the Beast?" Anna's heart rate goes up and both boys hear it.

"He said to stop," Anna says darkly.

"Who? Who said that?" Stiles inquires softly. She looks at him as her eyes flicker royal blue.

"Sebastien Valet." She tells them. "The Beast."
