Chapter 7:

Connor's PoV:

"Check yourself before you reck yourself!" Eli screamed at Piper.

"Oh, hell to the no!" Piper lunged at Eli. Before she could rip out Eli's lungs, Jason grabbed her waist. This was the fifth fight this week. Man, at least someone stopped Piper this time. Last time, I found them (Eli) beating the crap out of each other (Piper).

"Eli, stop it. And say you're sorry to Pipes." Jason pleaded.

"Ha, you can't even fight your own fights. Pathetic." Eli teased. I don't know why, but Eli's starte all the fights. There's something going on. Suddenly, Eli shook her and looked around in confusion. "What's going on?"

"Oh, please, bitch." Piper spat as she 'calmed down.'

"Excuse you?" Eli looked truthfully confused. "What in the hell are you talking about?"

I frowned. At first, Eli's starting the fight, then, she's confused. It took me a while before I figured it out. Possesion. Eli's being possesed. By some spirit. That's why there's been so many fight between Piper and her. Looking at her eyes, I noticed that naturally, she didn't have a purple tint to them.

"Whatever." Eli just walked away. She glanced over at me. Her dark brown eyes met with my blue ones. It looked like she desperate. I hate when she looks desperate and helpless. A slender hand slid it's way into mine. Looking to my right, I saw Kayla similing up at me. Why'd I have to say yes right before I met Eli?

"What's up?" Kayla layed her head on my shoulder.

"Nothing much." I smirked. When I looked back at Eli, I saw her turn her back, shove her hands in her pockets, and walk away, disappointed. Man, I hate that look. My heart felt heavy. Wow, never thought that'd happen.

"You okay?" Kay swerved in front of me. "You seem distracted."

"I'm fine, babe. Don't worry about it." I kissed her nose.

"Okay." She smiled. "Listen, I have to go to archery. Sit by me at the camp fire." And with that she skipped off.

I started walking towards the Hermes Cabin. Eli was sitting on the steps. She had her nose in a book. Black City was written across the binding side.

"Hey." I said. She looked up at me, biting her lip. Giving me a small smile, she had disappointment in her eyes. It hurt me to see her like that.

Eli's PoV:

He looked at me with pity. I hate pity. It's been given to me by too many people. Why can't they just say 'Suck it up, Cupcake!'? It'd be a whole lot easier. His pity was getting me angry. How come i'm always pitied?

"So..." He trailed off.

"You and Kenzie, huh?" I said. I know her name, I just choose not to say it. After these past few weeks, I found oout that I have a crush on Connor. And now he's with another girl. Go me.

"It's Kayla." He corrected.

"Oh." Was the fantabulous answer I came up with.

We sat there in silence for some more. It was a very awkward silence. My mind raced, searching for something to say. Should I yell at him for piting me? Or should I tell him my feelings, kiss him and run off? Okay, well, both of those plans are disasters, so... Yeah.

"What are you thinking?" Connor looked into my eyes, as if searching for something.

"Nothing." I confidently said. mostly because it was true. My mind was like a hurricane, never willing to stop unless it was tired and weak.

"Hmm."

Nobody else seemed to be around. Usually, there's lots of people around the cabins. A few people walked by here and there. Looking up, I saw the reason why. The sky was cloudy and threatening to rain. Rain. I haven't smelt it in years. A good fresh rain. Ever since we moved to NYC, it never had the smell like it did in Oklahoma.

The scent hit my nose. I sighed, relaxing. Before I knew it, my head was on Connor's shoulder and we were holding hands. It felt like the most natural thing in the world. Wait, Mr. Stoll has a GF, and I'm not the type that goes around, stealing other girl's men.

"I gotta go." I quickly got up and ran into the woods. Nymphs waved to me. I've always liked them. And they've always liked me.

I layed down in the creek. Yes, I'm the wierdo who does that. Got a problem? The water rushed past my body. If only I could just slip away. Let all my demons go. That'd make me feel amazing. The rain poured down, making the creek rush faster and overflow.

I decided to let creek go over my face. I still breathed. Soon, my eyelids felt heavy. Soon, I was asleep.

------------------------------

My eyes opened due to the moon's light catching on something. It shown too brightly into my eyes. I frowned. Dammit. By the placement of the moon, I could tell it was around one in the morning. Great, I'm lost, wet, and the wind is blowing fast. I thought about how much I hate this feeling. Then, something wierd happened.

I was dry. The wind seemed to avoid me. And I had some sort of sense of direction.

I couldn't see crap. Getting my pointer finger (I'm not a doctor, so I don't know the propper term.), I felt a tingle before fire danced on it. It was pure black, but lit just like regular fire. I found my way back. I quickly slipped into the Hermes cabin. Everyone was sleeping. I saw that Sam took it to her being to organize my stuff. I smiled at her OCD.

Slipping into my bed, I wrapped my arms around my long pillow. Suddenly, strong arms wrapped around my waist, nearly scaring me to death. Wait, holly crap on a cracker, I don't have a long pillow to hold. Looking up, I saw bright blues eyes. Connor.

"You scared me." We both said at the same time. He gave me the smirk that had grown on me.

"Where were you, E?" He asked.

"None of your business." I got up and walked over to an empty bed. Pulling the sheets over me, I felt the bed dip by another body.

"Come on, Kit." Connor whispered huskily into my ear as he wrapped his arms around me.

"Don't call me that." I hissed. "Plus you have a grilfriend. You shouldn't be wrapping your arm around me."

"Don't be that way, baby." I smelt alchoal on his breath. Da hell?

I got up and walked out of the cabin. He didn't follow me. Good. I started running down the beach. Then, I tripped on something. On my way down, I saw a dark haired boy running towards me. Then, I hit the ground. Everything went black.
