Hungry Like the Wolf - Duran Duran

Can we stop for donuts now? Angel Lili whined for the millionth time. Ugh, I wish Blackjack had never gotten her hooked on donuts.

"I guess, we're already in California, so why not." I sighed and stroked the tangles out of her dark brown mane. "Why don't you go ahead and stop at the next town. I'll go buy us some donuts."

You got it dude. Mission accomplished.

"I've should have never allowed you to watch Full House with me." Angel Lili snickered at my comment before she flew down into the forest below us, the city lights sparkling like stars a few miles away. She landed softly and shook her mane out. I got off and stretched out my legs. Flying on a pegasus for hours can really make your muscles stiff and ache. "You know, now that I think about it, we are in a different time zone."

Well that's a given. Angel Lili snorted.

"Why did I have to get a sassy horse?" I playfully said. Angel Lili nudged my shoulder with her head, causing my long hair to cover my face. I released a laugh, pushing my hair back messily. "Okay, okay, back onto the serious problem here. The only place where I can buy donuts are at gas stations and small stores. No bakeries are open at this time of night. Sorry."

I just want some donuts. And a sugar cube. A sugar cube sounds nice.

"You're pushing it now." I sighed and took off the hair tie I had around my wrist. I threw my hair up into a high ponytail, my dark hair now out of my face. "Stay put please. I'm gonna go ahead and try to find my way into town. You didn't land too far, right?"

Nope.

"Okay, be right back. Don't cause a scene." I called over my shoulder as I walked towards the open road. Only a few feet away from the black asphalt, I noticed a tall figure walking towards me. I stopped in my tracks and squinted my eyes to see who it was. The silhouette seemed to be one of a man. He walked up to me, shoving his hands into his jean pockets. I held back an eye roll once I figured out who it was.

"What's up cuz? It's nice to see you again." The sun god greeted with his signature smile. His pearly white teeth illuminating the forest a little more in front of us. Man, I forgot how blinding his smile can be.

"Apollo." I nodded at him. "I thought Zeus didn't want the gods to interact with us demigods?"

"You know I don't really follow through with his rules. I have my own." Apollo said, shrugging his shoulders. The smirk hasn't left his face. "However, I do have to say something to you that lets me get away with a loop hole. For one, you can't go to Camp Jupiter with the rest of your friends to reunite with Percy. Second of all, you cannot leave this town."

This news did not settle well with me. I instantly felt my temper starting to flare.

"What do you mean I can't go to Camp Jupiter to see my brother!? I haven't seen him in months thanks to Hera." I exclaimed, spastically flinging my hands around. The Greek god in front of me sighed.

"What Hera has done was not our choice. She did that behind out backs. Technically, you shouldn't have left camp in the first place. You aren't part of the prophecy. You have your own quest."

"My own quest? Forget about quests! I want to see my brother." Groaning, I looked up at the sky and mumbled curses under my breath towards Hera. Lightening flashed in the sky with thunder rumbling right after. "What's my mission? Why won't the gods let me see my brother? Why can't I leave this town?"

Another flash of lightening light up the night a good couple of meters away from us. The bright light sparked off of the road a few feet away. Soon, more flashes of lightening stroked the ground. As I followed the path of sparks left behind by the lightening, a powdered blue jeep and two blurry figures came into my eye sight. Someone was calling out in urgency as the strikes got closer, the last strike flashed a few feet behind the people, startling them. Since when was that jeep there? I didn't see it when I saw the flashes of lightening? Talk about selective eyesight.
