that i shouldn't be
falling in love
with boys who
have hazel eyes,
with the green
embracing
the brown hues.
someday, i'll learn
that i was only
born to nurture myself,
and that i can say no,
and that i am a
free person.
someday, i'll learn
that nobody is the sun
and everyone is a star,
and that we all live
in the night sky,
and we all shine.
someday, i'll learn
that change is okay,
and that to fear change
is not something to
be ashamed of.
one of these days, i'll learn.
