Maple Syrup

I'm not maple syrup,
a sweet treat,
so delightedly you could eat,
so happily you'd greet.

I'm not maple syrup,
I'm not enjoyed when I'm cold,
I'm not sweet inside and out,
I'm not a mush of goey goodness.

I'm not maple syrup,
I don't stick to things,
I don't brighten people's days,
I don't make things even sweeter.

I am me,
a mean person,
an insulting person,
A sin.

I'm innosint,
I'm black inside,
My burnt parts not
in the light.

I'm not sugary sweet,
I'm not sweet to meet,
I'm definitely not,
a person you'd greet.

But, I am me,
what can I say?
I can say,
I'm not maple syrup.
