Chapter Forty-one

Binabaliw Mo Ko

Dahan dahan kong iminulat ang mga mata ko. It's still dark inside. Napatingin ako sa alarm clock sa side table. It says it's already 8:37 in the morning.

Bumangon ako at hinanap ang cellphone sa ilalim ng unan. I almost forgot that I'm in his unit. I checked my phone and I noticed that I have three missed calls from Alec and four unread messages. Ang dalawa sa mensahe ay galing kay Alec.

He greeted me good morning and he told me to eat my breakfast. I smiled and replied at him. The other message is from Yas asking me where I was. I told her I am in Alec's building. And the last message is from someone whom I least expected to message me.

Jameson.

Can we meet for lunch?

Nagdadalawang isip pa ko kung papayag ako o hindi. But after so many thoughts that flashed in my mind, I replied and ask him where are we meeting.

Binitawan ko muna ang phone ko at dumiretso sa banyo. Kagabi ay dumaan ako sa pinakamalapit na mall dahil wala akong maisusuot. It's a good thing I bought a dress.

I did my morning routine. Nang natapos ako ay tiningnan kong muli ang cellphone ko at tiningan kung sumagot na siya. Sinabi niya lang ang restaurant kaya nagreply ako ng 'okay'.

I'm guessing Alec is quiet busy by now because he isn't answering my reply so I just messaged him and told him about my lunch meeting with Jameson.

I decided to charge my phone because it was already running out of battery percent.

Naglinis muna ako sandali ng unit niya para may mapagkaabalahan ako. I am thinking why Jameson want to meet me after everything. Kung pipilitin niya lang ako na sumama sakaniya ay pasensiya siya. Nothing would change my mind. Not even him.

Itinulak ko ang pintuan ng restaurant. Iginiya ako ng isang waiter ngunit tumanggi ako. I saw Jameson silently waiting for me. Diretso ko siyang nilapitan.

Nag-angat siya ng tingin nang tumayo ako sa harap niya. He smiled at me. But his smile isn't like the other smiles he was giving me. He smiled even though tiredness and pain are dripping off from his eyes.

"Hey.." aniya. Tumango lamang ako at ngumiti pabalik. He stood up and pulled the chair for me. I thanked him and before I could utter any word the waiter came and served us a food. So, he already ordered something for us? That's good tho.

I checked my phone and I received no messages from Alec. He's this busy? I see. It's okay. Babalik na rin siya mamaya.

Umalis ang mga waiter at tahimik kami kumain parehas. We were silent the whole time we were eating. Tila kasalanan ang paggawa kahit ng simpleng ingay lang. Ni walang nagtatangkang magsalita saamin para basagin ang katahimikan.

After eating, he faced me.

"I can no longer change your mind, can't I?" he smiled. I took a deep breath and silently nodded.

"I'm really really sorry for all the damages I've caused you, Jameson. You've been so good to me. Siguro... siguro kung walang Alec sa buhay ko ay ikaw na ang lalaking mamahalin ko..."

"Pero nandiyan si Alec kaya wala akong puwang..." aniya. Malungkot niya akong nginitian.

"I don't deserve you, Jameson. You are too good for me. After all what I've done, I know I don't deserve someone so perfect as you," mahinang usal ko. Nakatingin lang siya sa'kin at hindi ko mawari kung anong iniisip niya.
