Tie The Loose Ends

We are now laying to his bed. Nakaunan ako sa braso niya habang nakayakap sakaniya.

"Why do I feel sympathy for her all of a sudden?" I asked almost whispering. This makes me wonder since we left that restaurant. Hindi siya sumagot.

Does he feel the same thing too?

"Maybe because this is the first time I saw her completely sank and weak? Nasanay akong makita ang matapang at palabang side niya. What makes me curious is her sudden surrender. Do you think it's true?" tanong ko at tiningala siya. Nagbaba siya ng tingin sa'kin.

He chuckled, "True or not, I don't care anymore. I wanna live in peace by now. She doesn't matter," he muttered. Bahagyang umawang ang labi ko sa sinabi niya. Ibinalik ko sa dating posisyon ang ulo ko.

"How did you knew everything?"

He sighed, "First, it was all my deductions. Nagkita kami ni Alexa to ask her if she could come in the meeting with your parents. And I confirmed if my conclusions are right, she didn't talk. At all," tumango ako. So, that's why Alec came up with the idea of brainwashing?

"Didn't know she did something worst. Blackmailing my sister," aniya.

I see. Pero teka, ano daw?

"Wait, did you mean a meeting with my parents and Alexa?" gulat kong tanong at bumangon sa pagkakahiga. Natatawa siyang tumingin sa'kin. Hinila niya muli ako para mahiga sa tabi niya.

"Yeah, that's why you need to sleep now, baby. 'Cause tomorrow is gonna be a big day," he verbalized. I froze in shock.

Maaga akong inihatid ni Alec sa bahay. He told me na mas maiging sa bahay ako mag-stay habang hinihintay sila. They are already awake. I saw mom watering the plants in our garden. Hindi niya ako napansin kaya't tumuloy nalang ako papasok.

I saw dad at the corner of our living room which is his small office. The glass walls are enough to see how busy he is. Nilapitan ako ni manang para itanong kung kumain na daw ba ako. Tumango nalang ako.

Tumuloy na ako paakyat. Does my parents know about the meeting? I forgot to ask Alec about this. I don't want to call him because I believe he's now busy at work.

I spent the day sleeping and thinking about senseless things. Mag-aalas sais na ng gabi ay nagising ako sa isang katok.

"Come in," I shouted in sleepy voice. Narinig ko ang pagbukas ng pintuan.

"Dems?" a deep monotone voice called my name. I saw Sir standing at the doorway.

"Hmm? What do you need?"

Nagkibit balikat siya, "Pinapasabi ng mom mo na maghanda ka na daw," aniya.

Saglit akong napabangon, "Maghanda para sa?"

"The small gathering between us and Alec's family?" tanong niya ng nagtataka dahil parang wala akong alam. Shoot! I almost forgot about it!

"So that means my parents knew that Alec would come?" I asked in disbelief. He rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Of course. Your boyfriend called over the phone the day before yesterday and asked if he could set a meeting between all of us. Your parents said yes," napanganga ako sa tinuran niya. Ang akala ko ay surprise visit ang magaganap. Alec really planned it. And based from it, I can sense that things will turn out well.
