It turned out that the trick to the upside-down Altean pool was that there was personal anti-gravity equipment for it. In result, the moment Lance and Keith had a moment of free time, they went to Coran for help with it, so they were able to go swimming.

"It's simple, actually," Coran said. "All you do is pull the string, push this button, and then you can float up and control your gravity."

"That's...weird," Lance commented. "Haven't you heard of putting a pool on the ground?"

"Oh, that would've been easier, now that I think of it," said Coran.

"You think?" Keith and Lance said in a unison.

- - - - -

"So, you stay on this side of the pool, and I'll stay on this side, so we will be far away from each other," Keith repeated, gesturing to the ends of the pool. "Very. Far. Away."

"Yeah, yeah," Lance huffed in annoyance. "I heard you the first billion times."

Keith rolled his eyes and dropped his towel to the floor. Lance couldn't help but stare at Keith's figure. Damn, the training deck had done wonders for his body. What the fuck?

"Lance?" Keith looked at him over his shoulder. "Are you okay?"

Lance just been caught staring at his arch rival. Maybe he was just tired. Yeah, that was definitely it. Keith wasn't distracting him, with his milky, smooth-looking skin and his muscled back and-

Wait, no no, no, no, no, he was not attracted to Keith. He had a mullet for quiznak's sake!

"Lance?" Keith waved his hand in front of the blue paladin's face.

"Huh? Who?" Lance was interrupted from his thoughts.

"Did you hear what I said?"

"Yeah, yeah, staying on the opposite ends of the pool," Lance huffed. "Not like I'd like being on your side, anyway!"

Keith rolled his eyes as he dipped his foot experimentally in the pool. The water was warmer than he expected it to be.

Lance, however, grinned mischievously as he snuck behind the red paladin.

"Is the water warm?" Lance asked, the grin not fading away.

"Yes, actually," Keith answered, not looking back at him. "Now you go on your-"

Before he knew it, he was pushed into the warm water of the pool. Once he resurfaced, he glared at the laughing blue paladin.

"Funny?" Keith asked, sweeping his wet, black hair out of his face.

"Yes, very," Lance answered, pretending to wipe a tear from his eye.

"Well, this is going to be six times as funny," Keith muttered as he grabbed Lance's ankle and pulled him in.

Lance let out an undignified scream as he was yanked into the water. Once he surfaced, he spit out the water that got into his mouth as Keith laughed. Despite the fact that his laugh was hot, Lance looked at him determinedly. This means war, Keith.

And, the splash war ensued.

They splashed and splashed, getting water in their ears, mouths, and noses. They laughed as they tried to dodge the other's blows. Lance finally climbed the ladder out of the pool.

"What, is the paladin of water a sissy? Do you finally admit my victory?"

Oh, you wish, Keith. Lance thought.

"Tidal wave!" Lance shouted as he cannon-balled in the pool.

Keith tried to block most of the water he could until Lance resurfaced right in front of Keith.

"Who wins now, Keith?" Lance smirked.

God, did Keith want to kiss him right now. His brown hair, which was nearly black now, since it was wet, stuck to his face as water dripped from every protrusion on his face. Keith noticed now that Lance was just a little taller than him, so he would have to lean up to kiss him. Wait, was he actually thinking of kissing him? Lance? The very object of his exasperation since they got stuck in space together?

"Does Keithy like what he sees?" Lance smirk widened, crossing his arms in confident victory.

Keith felt heat rush into his cheeks. "N-no! Of course I don't!"

"Mmhmm," Lance hummed sarcastically. "Baby, I know even you couldn't resist this." He gestured to his whole body.

"I-I can!" Keith said. "I am right now."

"You're staring."

"You were too!"

So he did notice. Lance thought.

"Yes, I did."

"Did I say that out loud?"

"Yes. And you just admitted that you were staring at me."

"I was just staring at that... disastrous mullet!" Lance shot back.

"It's not disastrous, and it's not a mullet!" Keith argued.

"Yes, it is." Lance smiled, enjoying the result he got from his hothead.

Wait... His?

And, when did Keith get so close? Their faces were about three inches from each other. Both of their faces heated up once they realized how close in proximity they were. Yet, they didn't move away.

"So, um, Keith," Lance blushed.

"Yeah?"

"Can I- I dunno, kiss you, maybe?"

"Why?" Keith asked, his face nearly as red as his swim trunks.

"I dunno, I just- I want to."

"Why?"

"You're killing the mood, Keith."

"Fine. Just... no tongue."

"That's no fun," Lance pouted.

"Just kiss me," Keith told him, closing his eyes and waiting expectantly.

"How would you like it?" Lance asked nervously.

Keith opened his eyes, mentally rolling them, before closing the space between them. It started out slow and sweet, but soon got more passionate, and both of them broke the "no-tongue" rule. They tasted each other and held the other close, their chests pressing together.

After they pulled away, they panted, their hearts racing and their skin feeling tingly.

"Hey Keith?"

"Yeah?"

"What happened to the 'you stay on one side of the pool, and I stay on the other'?"

"Oh, just shut up, Lance."

And they kissed again. And again. And again. It was pathetic, really, and extremely cute.
