Please, Notice Me! (Short Story)

This is for y'all who love some good ol' Zen shipping XD

This is non-canon, of course. This takes place in universe where the killing game never happened.

Of course... Pen's not dead here... T^T

Ever since we were just young... Ever since we met... I've fallen in love with you... My...

"No... That's not it..." I whispered to myself as I ripped the paper out of the notebook I was writing on and crumpled it, throwing it somewhere in my room. Here in my sleeping chamber, on the cold, tiled floor, I lied down on my belly, trying to think of a way for Zero to notice me. I think I have done it all...yet none were successful!

I groaned as loud as I could!

...While my face was buried in my pillow that I brought with me to the floor. I used my arms to support me and raised myself up, looking up at the mess that is my room.

I suppose I should clean it up... Crumpled papers scattered, literally, everywhere in my room. From under the bed, to up high on my shelves! Gosh, what was I doing...?

I helped myself stand up and stretched for a bit. I took a look around my room.

My room was simple enough for me. I have a bed that is big enough to fit, at least, five average-sized adults; it had violet-colored cover and big pillows that are light violet in color. I have my own laptop that rested peacefully on my desk, along with the mouse, mousepad, and a lampshade. A huge frame of a certain artistic painting hanged itself on my lavendered wall.

My parents don't have a clue...

Underneath that painting was actually a large photo of Zero! On my shelves were a couple of books...but the shelves were so high that I have to use a chair. Fortunately, I have one right here - it's a purple reclining office chair. My floor was tiled with white tiles; the tiles reflected the light that I had. It's only a fluorescent light. My window had purple curtains, and it has the best scenery that I could ever see outside: Zero's house! Specifically, I could see his window!

Well, it all looks nice...not with all the papers around. Time for some cleaning!

Whew! I'm finally done cleaning!

While I was cleaning, I suddenly had a light bulb in my head! Since our windows are basically aligned perfectly and we greet each other every morning, afternoon, evening, and just almost every time, I'm going to make a sign! A literal sign that will say...

"I love you, Zero! Please, notice me!!" I exclaimed, jumping to the balls of my feet happily. "Eeeek! That's a great idea! Thanks, Penelopé! You're welcome, Penny! Okay! Okay! Calm down now!"

And so I started to channel my inner artist. I'm a musician-and music is an art-but that doesn't mean I'm good at every art. Anyway, time to work!

"This will do!"

I held up the sign. It was made out of paper-a large one. It said there in large letters, "I LOVE YOU, ZERO! PLEASE, NOTICE ME!!"

Now, I just have to stick it to the window, make sure he can see it, and voila! It's done!

"IhopethisworksIhopethisworksIhopethiswooooorks!" I repeatedly chanted.

A day already passed. I got no reaction from Zero... It's like...nothing happened. We just talk like how we normally do... Do stuff like how we normally do... What did I do to deserve this....?

Meanwhile...

-Zero's POV-

I don't know if he noticed... But ever since he put up that sign at his window, I've been feeling strange near him... It's like...my heart wants to pop out of my chest.

Every night, I stare at that window... It always gives me the heat...

Pen... Are you noticing this...? My cheeks are like on fire whenever I'm with you nowadays...

Zero... Do you really not notice my love for you...? My cheeks are like on fire whenever I'm with you...
