Michael POV“What happened?” My wife beat me to say. Both of us looking at detective Biggs curiously.
I look behind him. My father, mother and everyone else are walking towards us.
“What could be so important for you to be here right now?” I asked feeling irritated. This is not how I planned the night for my wife and I.
“Let us go somewhere private...Right now”. He demanded. What could be the problem now?
“What's going on here?” Dad asked. Detective Biggs turns around. Everyone else standing in perplexity. Amelia and her husband. Monique and Leon.
“Nathan, Nicolas and Michael, please follow me. Now guys”. This has to be very important. But of all the other days why now?
I turn to my beautiful wife. Worry is all over her face as she look up at me with those beautiful bright eyes of hers.
“I'll be right back baby”.
“Ok”. She must have also realized that this is an important matter.
“I'm coming too”. Leon remarked.
“Very well then”. The detective nod.
We followed him at the back around a corner. The music started playing again but where we are is almost quiet.
“There was a trace on one of the bullets found in your car”. My eyes widen.
“Who's is it?” Leon asked. Nathan and dad's faces turning stone. I wiped the shock expression from my face.
Detective Biggs look at all of us, one after the other.
“The guy name is Craigy Sinclair. He shot at you with his license fire arm”. I look at everyone's faces to see if they have any idea of the name.
“What? Why would someone risk themselves like that?” My dad was the first to question in confusion. Confusion is written on everyone's faces, including mine.
“Why did it took so long for you guys to find that out?”
“Look, I'm not the forensic. I was told and I came to you now to inform you”. He sigh.
“Well I'm glad you caught that bastard”.
“That's not all Mr Perry. Someone spilt to reporters of the new information. It was on the news. We tried to track down Sinclair as quickly as we could, thinking he'd make a run for it. It turns out that he did. But fortunately we caught him just on time before he left the country”.
“Where is he now?” I asked clenching my teeth. I'd like to get to the bottom of this.
The detective focussed his attention on me now.
“He's in custody. We're trying to get out of him the others who were there. I'd like you to leave this to the professionals. You can see him. But no physical contact. You can be charged for it. You know that right?” I look at him. Seriousness plastered on my face.
“I make no promises”.
“Michael listen to him”. My father warned.
“Just relax Michael. There has to be more to this. Like why he did it. Or firstly why use his license fire arm. Shit who does that?” Leon said. Of all this, that puzzled me the most. It's really damn stupid.
I'm not puzzled about why he tried. Many people wants to. My past isn't so clean. Mainly my father's. So people would of course want to kill me. But what angered me mostly right now is the fact that he almost killed the woman I'm in love with. The woman that's now my wife. The woman which at that time was also pregnant with my babies.
I have a strong feeling that I'm gonna kill again. I swear. I'll do anything to protect my family.
“Most of all, based on the way he talks, it seem as if he and the others only did the dirty work”.
“You mean they were paid to do it?” Leon asked. The detective nodded.
“We are trying to find out who hired him. But he wouldn't say”. The detective focussed his attention back on me.
“The only thing he said was that he wanted to see Michael and that he wanted to speak to him, privately”. Everyone in confusion, look at me.
“What?” I questioned.
“Do you know that guy Michael?” Nathan asked. I frown trying to remember. It feels like I know him, somehow. But I just can't remember.
“Maybe. But I'm not sure”.
“I'm not saying that you should leave your reception to be there. But the sooner we sort this out the better”. He gave me a look as if saying 'Mostly better for you'.
“Per se, tomorrow morning”. The detective finished.
My dad walked up to him.
“Thank you for coming to inform us”.
“No problem. I'll be on my way now”. The detective left. Leaving the three of us thinking.
“What now?” Leon broke the silence.
“I'm going down there early tomorrow morning. I don't wanna leave Akeilia tonight. I at least need to tell her what's going on. She can't be stressed out right now”. They nod in agreement. My dad kept looking at me.
“Well I'm going back inside”. Leon pointed to the entrance, touched my shoulder before walking off.
“So this person could be here right now and we won't know who?” Nathan remarked.
“Likewise if we didn't know he got caught Nathan”. I told him. He look as if he realized that what he just said made no sense.
“Nathan please give us a minute. Go make sure Akeilia's safe”. My dad said. Nathan nod before he left. Why does dad look like this?
“I wanna talk to you about something”. I frown, while he's walking closer.
“What's going on?” What's wrong with him? I'm sure he couldn't hire men to kill me, his own son. So what could be the problem?
He rubbed his hand over his head.
“I'm the cause of this. I should've dealt with the situation differently. That decision almost cost both of your lives”.
“Wh...”. I made a face indicating that I don't understand him.
“I killed Raymond Sinclair... The father of Craigy Sinclair”.
