Clammy hands were wiped on her dress nervously, as Emiri ran her eyes over her pretty purple dress.

It was her first date.

Her very first.

She cursed.

"No..it's not a date" she tried to reassure herself. "It's just a hang out.."

She jumped when Hikaru knocked on the door in a playful rhythm.

"Hey, there. Ready for your big date?" He grinned teasingly.

"Dad, it's not a date"

"I bet he thinks it is"

She turned to him, suddenly exasperated.

"He thinks it's a date?!" Panicking for a second, her eyes wide.

His joke not clear to her, he backed down.

"Surely not, are you nervous then?"

Her face felt hot as she turned back to the mirror.

"A little."

Hikaru smiled and couldn't help but chuckle slightly.

"What's to be worried about? You look beautiful, Emiri"

"Heh..you have to say that, you're my dad" She said back.

"I'm telling the truth, why don't you believe me?" He grinned, flicking his copper hair out of his eyes.

"As if you know anything about what a girl feels"

"You were in a Host Club?!" Emiri's mouth hung open.

"We were the main attraction if I do say so myself." He chuckled lightly, silently reminiscing.

"'We'?" The young girl raised an eyebrow.

"Your uncle and I"

Emiri covered her mouth as she giggled uncontrollably.

"Uncle Kaoru?"

"Yep."

"What I would pay to see that!"

Hikaru smiled down at his amused daughter.

"I know more about women than you think. I'm just hoping this kid 'Felix' does too..or else" his voice dry.

"Dad, it's a party, with heaps of people"

"You wouldn't normally do something like this"

"It's a vacation, dad. It's all about having fun~"

~the party~

Loud music pounded from the house, blocking out any of Emiri's thoughts.

Confident in her high heels, she strode up the steps and walked inside, not needing to knock.

The room was intoxicating in music and people.

Everywhere she looked she saw people dancing and having fun.

She closed the door and looked around, suddenly not feeling so confident.

She slowly started to try to make her way through the hoard of people, but was grabbed by the arm, and pulled back, slamming against the wall.

She glared up, but cowered when she smelt the alcohol on their breath.

"Hey gorgeous" his voice was slurred and reeked of alcohol. She attempted to walk away but he forced her to stay where she was.

"Let me go" she pleaded quietly.

Suddenly, the space in front of her was opened up as her attacker was pulled backwards.

Felix replaced his spot.

"Are you okay?" His voice laced with concern.

Over his shoulder, Emiri watched as, who she guessed was Felix's friend, dragged the guy off.

She returned a single nod to Felix and he visibly relaxed.

"I couldn't find you..I thought you weren't going to come" he smiled a bit, making Emiri stare a few seconds too long.

"What is this place anyway?" She looked around as a few guys skulled a drink and cheered.

"My parents holiday house, but I let my friends who came to study abroad party here" he laughed heartily as he looked around at the crowded chaos.

"It must be nice to have so many friends" she said, almost sighing.

"Surely a pretty girl like you would be doted upon all the time?" He added with a wink.

"That's a bad part"

"So you don't like attention?"

"Not in the least" she sighed, looking up at the stars.

They had gone outside, and sat on the roof. According to Felix, it was the best view in Japan. She had rolled her eyes.

As they talked it got colder, and Emiri's bottom lip started to quiver.

Felix tried to give her his jacket, she refused, but gave in easily in the end.

"What's your parents like?" Felix asked curiously.

"My mum is protective..but my dad is all about fun. Yours?" She looked up at Felix, who was staring up at the sky, expressionless.

"Dunno..I haven't seen mine in years"

"Oh..why not?"

"A few years ago, I was in love with a Japanese girl..her name was Nagisa and we planned to move in together..but my parents didn't like it..so they said if I moved in with her..I wasn't welcome home anymore" Felix sighed at the recall of this saddening memory.

"Oh I'm so sorry.." Emiri's heart dropped at the mention of the girl 'Nagisa', even though she didn't know why...

"Where is she now? Is she at the party?" She forced herself to say out of politeness.

"Nah." Felix said, smiling in a sad kind of way "she's probably with her new boyfriend."

Emiri couldn't help but cheer up, even though it made her feel guilty.

"Anyways.." He tried to change the subject.

"How good is your Japanese?" She questioned.

"It's alright" Felix chuckled.

"Baka" Emiri teased.

Felix grinned playfully.

"Let's do this again, but next time, lets make it a date"

"A-a date?!"
