Chapter title: Unexpected Encounter

Angelina's POV:

"Is that you Xander." The guy asks as he stops at our table.

"Yeah it is." Xander says.

I study the vibe between them and from Xanders' side, he is not pleased to see this unknown guy.
The guy half smiles suddenly looking less happy to see Xander.

"And who are you?" I ask breaking the moment of silence.

The guy turns to me and stammers back as if he didn't realise I was sitting there.

"Check you out cutie." He says.

I blush, half smiling. I look over to Xander whose fists are clenched. I gasp a bit looking back at this guy.

"So yeah, who are you then?" I ask again.

"You look familiar darling."

"I doubt it and please don't call me darling." I tell him.

I reply with sass as I know Xander did not like the guy and to be honest, nor did I.

"Watch your tongue there missy." He replies.

Xander stands up. "That's enough Cole just beat it."

"Who the fuck are you talking to Xander, you best back the fuck off."

I look around the once thought of as friendly cafe and a few heads were looking our way.

Shit.

We didn't need this type of attention.

"I won't back off Cole, not until you turn around and go back the way you came."

Cole's left hand is now clenching in and out of a fist.

"Oh so now your out of school and got yourself a pretty girl with a bit of lip on her, you think its time to stand up and be Mr big bollocks." Cole hisses sarcastically.

I stand up leaning towards them.

"Look guys, this is silly.. we're in a cafe for goodness sake, lets squash this yeah." I say in a quiet voice aware of the stares around us.

Xander smiles at me then turns back to Cole.

"Just leave it yeah mate." He says putting his hand out for Cole to shake. I sigh in relief for Xander choosing to be the bigger person for me.

"Na fuck that Xander, I hated you then and I hate you now." He whacks Xander's hand.

I gasp stepping between them. Suddenly a waitor storms over asking if everything is okay.

"Don't ever think you are something Xander because you are not." Cole yells, as me and the waitor stand between them.

Xander wraps his arms around my neck, which excites yet confuses me. It's as if I have become part of his ego trip.

"I'm not going to knuckle down to your level Cole." Xander shouts back.

The waitor gets Cole to move far back but that does not stop him from hurling insults such as 'you're a fake' or 'your nothing' and other harsh stuff.

"Thank you." Xander whispers in my ear, still holding on to me as if I am his prize possession.

I chuckle, "It's okay Xander." I respond.

Finally Cole leaves the cafe out the back with a departing middle finger.

"He's disgusting." I murmur.

"Tell me about it." Xander exclaims.

He unwraps his arms from me and I play with my hair, suddenly feeling cold and in need of more of his manly hold.

"I think we should get our food to go." Xander says pulling his jacket on.

"I agree." I say.

By now everyone was talking about us and staring, so no way could we enjoy our meal this way.

"Here's the keys Angelina, I'll grab the food and come to the car."

"Are you sure?" I say.

What if Cole was waiting outside for us or something.

"Yeah sure, I'll be 10 minutes." He says smiling.

I suddenly have the urge to lean in and kiss him but stop myself.

Xander hands me the keys and I take them happily.

I stroll to the car, looking around cautiously in case that Cole dickhead was around.

When I see no sight of him, I unlock the car and jump in the passenger seat, making sure to lock it. I would unlock it when Xander was heading back.

Feeling safe yet hungry, I impatiently wait for Xander to return, in which I find myself tapping my fingers nervously on my leg.

Xanders' POV:

Shit, my whole cover was nearly blown. By the likes of Cole Trotman.

Stupid Jock.

My school history was not something I wanted to come up. I just needed to get Angy down to my new place and spend some more quality time with her. The more time I spend with her, I felt more like she was the one. The one for me.

I clutch our food tightly and move quickly out the restaurant to the car.

I could tell Angy was nervous by her whole body language. The nail biting, tapping and cautious glances around. I need to apologize profusely.

I try to open my door but its locked. Angelina mouths sorry then opens it for me. She was definitely uneasy.

I jump in the driver seat and Angelina offers to take the bag of food. I give it to her and sit back, running my hand through my hair. I take a deep breath then turn to Angy who is silently staring ahead.

"I'm sorry Angy, I did not expect a past bully to appear when I was just trying to catch some food with you."

I see Angy's smile from the side before she turns to me.

"Its okay Xander, I am just in a bit of shock."

I nod, reaching over and taking her hand. Angy looks down at her hand as if she can't believe such a gesture.

"Hey, I get it. If it was the other way around I would be shocked too."

Angy grasps my hand hand tighter and half smirks.

"Promise me there is no more surprises like that."

I gulp deeply knowing that as Angy has become a part of my life, there would definitely be more shocks to come!

But of course I couldn't say that.

"I promise you girl."

Angy leans back, her hand still in mine.

"Let's eat before it gets cold." She suggests.

"Yeah sure." I say, slowly letting go of her hand but not wanting too.

Angy passes me the bag and I give Angy her food. We chat away between mouthfuls of grub.
