Unexpected Love

Chapter 21 'First date'

 After school Nathan gave me a ride home, telling me he would pick me up at 8. Wow I am really going on a date, never saw this coming- well I kind of did just not with Nathan. All afternoon I was reading and watching TV, well more of watching TV and just holding a book in my hand, but at least I read one page before I got distracted.

           Getting ready to go on my date, I wore a white skirt with a back tank-top and topped it off with a cardigan. Once the doorbell rang I came downstairs to see my mom talking to Nathan. "Oh hi Lydia, why didn't you tell me you were going on a date with Nathan?" my mother asked, but I just shrugged at her, "Because you never asked." I quickly walked out of the door before my mom said anything else to me. Once I got to Nathan car about to open the door, Nathan beat me to it. He opened the car door for me. I let out a small smile, "Aw are you trying to be a gentlemen?" Nathan rolled his eyes at me, "Are you going to get in the car or not?" "Aw your so cute!" Before I knew Nathan slammed the car door on my side and walked over to his side. "Jerk," I mumbled under my breath.

           I was quietly jamming out to the radio while Nathan stayed quiet focusing on the road, then I turned over to look at him. "Hey where are we going?" Before he could answer we already got to the place...Oh my god this better not be what I think it is. "We are at a high school party!" said Nathan. Oh my god kill me now.

       We both walked through the front door, and I didn't say a word since I am a bit pissed off at him. The music was so loud once we got inside the house, I just want to run out of the house. It was only about 8:30 and more than half of the people here are already drunk. "I am going to meet up with my guys but you can go around and have fun!" Nathan shouted in my ear. I desperately didn’t want Nathan to leave, but I figured he could at least see his friends since it’s a party. We would meet up later anyways. The DJ played songs that have been repeated over the radio too many times to count. Girls were hanging off of guys with their “dresses” that could have been mistaken for tube tops.

             I sat on the couch playing games on my phone until it had only 5% left. I didn’t know anybody here, and I certainly didn’t want to talk to strangers--everybody was drunk anyways. Okay that's it! I am going home. I hate high school parties so much since its just a place for people to get wasted. I went looking for Nathan to drive me home. Not many people saw him anywhere. Lots of people kept on offering me drinks, but I declined since they could have spiked it. You should trust nobody, but yourself these days. I walked out of the house and noticed that Nathan’s car was gone. I then quickly called Megan to pick me up before my phone died. Waiting for Megan to come and pick me up, the wind started to pick up as the night got later. I left my jacket with Nathan so I have nothing.

    I woke up in my room with Megan sleeping on the ground. Megan exploded last night after I explained what happened with Nathan and the ruined first date. She threatened to go after him and make him as miserable as he made me. It was almost 11:00 and I was still laying in bed, I feel like having a lazy day and since it was winter break I have a lot of time to do nothing. "Megan?" I called over to her, "Yes, Lydia?" "What do you want to do today?" Megan was quiet for awhile then answered me back. "Well I was going to hang out with Liam, but I can cancel it or you can come with us." I shook my head at her, "No go have fun with Liam I will just probably just stay home and hang around but you should go have some fun." Megan asked me a couple of times if I was sure and all that junk but I just kept telling her to go have fun with Liam. Also, I don't want to be the reason responsible for why those two are not dating yet. "Okay Lydia but just stay away from Nathan for the day. He needs to learn his lesson about what he did to you. I mean what kind of dummy takes a girl to a party for a first date?" Oh how I love when Megan starts to rant.

            For the day, I was home alone my mom was at work while I just wonder the house eating a bag of chips wondering what I should do. Then the doorbell rang, I slowly walked to the front door hoping it’s not one of those people trying to sell stuff to me. I mean they will not take no for an answer. I opened the door and saw Nathan, I don't know what to think right now. "Lydia before you do anything else can you please let me explain." I rolled my eyes at Nathan and stepped aside for him to come into the house. I was sitting on the couch across from him with a blank look on my face. "So are you going to explain to me why you took me to a high school party for our first date and then ditched me?" I said with a harsh tone. "Okay so Liam told me not to put much thought about where to take you on a date so I didn't." I couldn't help but to laugh out loud on what he just said. "You are seriously dumb. Now why did you ditch me?" "So someone spiked my drink and you can tell what happened from there. So one of the guys from the football team took me home..." Once again, I burst out laughing really hard. "Wow you are so stupid!!"

           "So will you forgive me?"

   "Sure."

     "Then lets start over and I will take you on a better first date."

                 "Sorry nope you don't get another chance for a first date you can only take me out for a second date."

        "Why not?"

  "Because when I tell my story in the future I will tell them about the time when my stupid boyfriend took me to a party for a date and then ditched me." Nathan then started to chuckle at me, "You are so weird." "Keep saying that if you want to end up single." I snapped back. Nathan then walked up to me and then wrapped his arms around me. "Want to spend winter break over at my house?" I would usually say no but then again I would have nothing to do at home, plus I would also get to spend time with Nathan so I said, "Sure I would like to stay over." "Okay you can go pack up and meet me over back at my place." Nathan said then kissed my forehead. Once he left I rushed upstairs to my room and started packing my stuff enough for the break over at Nathan’s house.
