Ali's pov

"Ali trust me they still won't eat peas"

"Shh Em. I'll get them to try some"

I grab the small pot of mushy peas and a pink princess spoon. Scooping a spoonful of peas I can feel Emily's breathe on the back of my head. I sit them at the dinner table and tell them they can't play until they eat some peas.

"Here comes the aeroplane" I move the spoon through the air and towards Lily, she hits the spoon out my hand and sends it flying across the room, when I pick it up I can hear the two girls giggling, maybe they are too old for aeroplanes and princess spoons but I decide to try it once more with a slightly different method

"Here come the aeroplane" I move the spoon through the air and towards Emily, she opens her mouth and I feed her some peas. I pull the spoon out her mouth and get some more peas

"Here comes the aeroplane" once again I move the spoon through the air and towards Emily however this time I hear Grace mumble something

"what is it darling ?" I ask

Grace opens her mouth and I feed her some peas. Just as I planned, Lily becomes jealous that Grace got some and she didn't so I send Emily to get more peas and another pink princess spoon

"You did it gorgeous" Emily kisses
my cheek

"Told you I would"

"Right girls you can go play now" Emily tells them

"Wait. Have you both finished your homework ?"

"Yes mommy"

"Grace have you ?"

"No"

"Why not ?" Em asks her

"Because I got stuck"

"Well me and mommy will help you. Go get your homework. What homework is it ?"

"Math" Grace says skipping to her bedroom to get her bag

"I'm an English teacher, I'm crap at math"

"Alison it's math for five year olds"

Emily's pov

Grace hands Ali a sheet of paper with questions on it. We all sit down at the dinner table to do her math together

"Subtractions" I say glancing at the paper

'7-5 ='

'3-1 ='

'10-7 ='

'1-1 ='

Ali stands up from the table and grabs her pencil case, she pulls out 10 pens and sits them in front of Grace

"Okay. So mommy has seven pens" she slides 7 pens over to me and I pick them up

"But I take five pens off mommy. How many pens does mommy have left ?" Ali asks, as she takes 5 pens out my hand

Grace mumbles and I can see her eyes rolling around whilst she thinks of the answer

"Come here sweety" I say handing Grace the 2 pens I have "Count them"

Grace begins to count

Ali's pov

"One...two" she smiles "Mommy has this many pens" she holds up two fingers

"Yes she does. Now write that down" Grace scribbles the answer onto the paper and we repeat the process for the other questions
