Ali's pov

The tv is quietly playing in the background. Lily, Grace, Carson and Jamie are all sitting cross legged on the floor as Emily tells them a story, while she holds Emerson's bottle against his tiny lips. I stopped listing to Emily's story long ago when I became lost in her lips, I am closely watching as her jaw and tongue move simultaneously to pronounce certain letters and her lips bounce against each other to pronounces others. Her flawless appearance and personality have always been fascinating to me. I love to just watch her, I don't need to be listening to appreciate what she is saying however, my appreciate of her lips disintegrates as soon as she begins to talk directly to me

"Isn't that right Alison?" She brightly smiles

"Yeah, yeah" I stutter, completely unaware of what she has been talking about for the last half an hour

I play along, trying my best to answer her questions because if she found out I wasn't listening she would think I don't care and I was being rude but it's the opposite I care so much and while I may have been rude by not listening I can't help but get lost in her plump moisturised lips.

"Why don't you tell the kids what you thought?"

"What?" I choke with the fear of being caught

"Tell then what you were thinking when I ruined your surprise" she innocently laughs

"My surprise?"

"Yeah Ali. Your proposal"

"Oh yeah. I felt annoyed"

"Annoyed? Is that all you have to say?"

"Well yeah, I mean you ruined my romantic plans but you still said yes so I can't be too annoyed" I admit while trying to quickly finish the conversation so that no more questions are asked

My body fills with the relief that Emily didn't realise I wasn't listening; as Jamie asks why we spent years in "hell" as students and then decided to go back as teachers. Emily hates when I don't listen, she says it's a bad habit from high school when I blocked out everyone I loved but I just think she is still annoyed that I continuously pushed her away. I often don't listen to Emily, one minute I am invested in the conversation and the next I am staring at her eyes, her lips, her hair, her breasts, her nose or whatever I choose to appreciate that day. Besides my children, Emily is the only person I have ever truly loved and sometimes I just like to stop so that I can fully admire what I have.

Emily's pov

I can tell Alison is miles away from our conversation, that's why I ask her questions. She comes up with pathetic answers however, her opinions seems to satisfy the kids so I let it slide this time. She is constantly daydreaming, I don't know what she thinks about but I do hope that whenever she travels to another world that she thinks about me.

"So how was dinner last night?" I ask my blushing daughter

"It was good" Jamie smiles "my mom and dad were amazing"

"I'm glad to hear. So does that mean you are officially girlfriends?" Alison smirks

"Yeah" Grace smiles, taking Jamie's small hand in hers

They are so cute that my heart melts every time I see them together. They may only be nine but both Lily and Grace are in love.

"What's your ship name?"

"I don't know. What's yours?"

"Emison" Alison blushes as she traces her necklace with the tips of her fingers

When we were in Paris, Alison bought us matching necklaces; at the end of the beautiful chain is an Eiffel Tower. Next to the Eiffel Tower on Alison's necklace is an 'E'; engraved into a love-heart and on mine I have an 'A'.
