Ali's pov

"Happy Birthday to you. Happy Birthday to you. You look like a monkey and you smell like one too" Lily and Grace giggle as they stand in the doorway, in front of Emily who is holding a tray with bacon, pancakes and a coffee

"Good morning" I blush as Emily places the tray onto my lap before going over to Emerson

Lily and Grace climb into bed next to me while Emily sits on the edge, rocking Emerson

"So Mrs Fields what would you like to do today?" Em asks

"I don't know. What do you want to do?"

"It's your birthday Mom. You choose" Grace smiles, hugging me

"How about a family picnic in the park?"

"Great I'll text Jason"

"Jason?"

"Yes Alison. Jason your brother. Did you really think he wouldn't see you on your birthday?"

"I just didn't expect him to come" I laugh

Emily's pov

Alison and the girls are kicking a ball around as Jason and I swoon over Emerson who is wriggling around the picnic mat

"Emily, watch" Alison screams as the ball flys towards us

Jason picks Emerson up and cradles him in his arms, protecting him from the ball. I look up to Alison unsure why she shouted on me. As I tilt my head up the ball crashes straight into my nose

"Oh my fu...Emily are you okay" Alison asks, running over to me

"I am but you won't be" I giggle, standing up and chasing Alison around the grass

As I manage to catch up with Alison, I am unable to stop running and my body crashes into the side of her, making her fall to the ground before I fall on top of her. Alison bursts into laughter as I lie over her. We both breathlessly laugh, not taking our eyes off each other until Jason screams "Get a room" at the top of his lungs which makes Lily and Grace laugh

"We've already got a whole house" Alison smirks

"It should be mine" He shouts: complaining that Alison got the family house instead of him

Alison flips Jason off as I stand up and help pull Ali to her feet. Still giggling about our fall

"Seriously tho is your nose okay?"

"I'm fine"

"You're not starting without me? Are you?" My mom smiles as she walks towards the picnic mat

"Of course not Pam" Alison smiles, walking over to her and exchanging a kiss on the cheek

Ali's pov

"Oh hello" Pam says down the phone while we all shove sandwiches down our throats

"Yes. I can't come to book club today. Because I am at my daughters birthday party"

I blush as Pam calls me her daughter. I look over to Emily to see she is smiling at me. I used to find it weird when Pam called me her daughter and get defensive, saying that I only have one mom but recently I can't help but smile whenever she introduces me as her daughter.

"No not Emily. Alison. Yes. Emily's wife, my daughter. Okay goodbye"

"Sorry about that" Pam smiles, placing her phone into her bag

"Happy Birthday Alison. I didn't get you much" She grins, handing me a gift bag

"Thanks"

I open the bag to find a small piece of paper. I pick it out of the bag and turn it around to find that Pam has given me two tickets to see Beyoncé

"Oh my god. I've loved her since I was like ten"

"Maybe a little too much Ali" Emily devilishly smirks

I remember saying that to Emily. I remember thinking I was a comedian and that it was better to make fun of Emily than to love her. However, after the words escaped my mouth and Emily's eyes dropped as she awkwardly laughed, I realised that it wasn't funny; It was mean. Emily was confused enough about her sexuality without me making fun of her. If I could go back, I would do things differently; I would admit to Emily and myself who I am instead of staying in the closet for years, after the day at the kissing rock I would ask Emily to be my girlfriend. We could've had more time together, but we can't go back in time and that is why I intend to make the most out of the time I get with Emily.

"Shut up" I giggle, flirtatiously nudging Em

"What are we doing for our birthday?" Lily asks

"Lil it's my birthday today not yours" I laugh

"Yes I know. But what are we doing?"

"I don't know. What about another picnic?"

"That's boring"

"Excuse you? Are you bored just now?" Pam asks Lily

"Yes. This is an old woman's birthday party"

"Old woman? I am your mother not an old woman" I scoff

"You are old, you are thirty-one"

"If you think thirty-one is old? What do you think I am?" Pam asks

"Ancient" Grace giggles, joining in

"Prehistoric"

"Extinct" Lily and Grace say in unison before bursting into tears of laughter

Emily's pov

I tower over Alison, resting my head on her shoulder, with my arms wrapped around her waist as we watch Lily and Grace feed the ducks. My mom and Jason walk around the pond with Emerson who is asleep in his buggy. The sun is blinding my eyes and shining off Alison's blonde hair making it look pure white.
I kiss her cheek and I can feel her warmth against my lips. She twists around to face me; we are so close that I can feel her cold breath against my face as she speaks

"Lily and Grace may have found this boring but I've had the best birthday ever. I couldn't wish for anything better than having a relaxing day with my family" She smiles

"I'm glad you had a good day" I reply, mimicking her smile

Alison stands on her tiptoes and quickly kisses me on the lips before turning back around to watch Lily and Grace

"What would you like to do when we get home?" I whisper, swaying us back and forth

"Honestly, I would love to order a chinese and have a quiet night in the house with my stunning wife and three gorgeous children watching The Little Mermaid"

"Oh why do you want to watch that movie? I wonder" I giggle

"Because it's a fantastic movie, and because I love watching it with my own Little Mermaid"

"Maybe after we've watched the Little Mermaid and put the kids to bed, I can become a part of your world...if you know what I mean" I giggle, squeezing her butt

Alison hides her face from me but I feel her shoulders lift as she blushes

"Shut up" she giggles, slightly embarrassed

"It is your birthday after all Alison" I pause as I look around, making sure that no one is paying attention to our conversation before muttering into her ear "and everyone knows that birthday sex is phenomenal"
