Emily's pov

"Alison, do you remember when you accused me of cheating with Paige but I was actually just planning the renewal of our vows? And I told you that I promised Paige to help her with her proposal?"

"Yes?" She questions

"Well...we've been invited to their wedding in three months"

"Do we need to go?" Ali complains

"She invited the kids"

"So? I guess that's a yes"

"Well me and the kids are going. You don't have to come"

"Speaking of Paige. Can we finally talk about that night in LA?"

"We promised we wouldn't talk about it" I awkwardly reply

"Em, we weren't married when we promised we wouldn't ever talk about it"

"What is there to talk about?" I question, sinking further into the sofa

"Em" Alison says, tilting her head

"What? Seriously why do you want to talk about it? It was years ago and we are together now anyway so why does it matter?"

"Okay, I won't mention it" Alison says, shaking her head in a mood

Ali's pov

"Okay, I won't mention it" I politely smile

11 years ago I was in LA, visiting a family friend with Jason and my dad. It was 3 years after my friends left for college and to my disappointment we had kind of lost touch, we still had a group chat and would text each other everyday but I hadn't seen any of them since the day they left; I texted the group to excitedly tell Emily that we were in the same state. However, she was too busy with school to reply.

My dad's friend took us to a fancy restaurant for dinner before crossing the road to the 'Californian counter' bar for post-meal drinks

"Excuse me, I need to go powder my nose" I politely said, pretending to be posh despite the fact that when I am with my friends we all just shout 'I need to pee, who's coming?' before going to the restroom

I opened the restroom stall while looking down at the floor and walked towards the sinks, realising that I was not alone I began to analyse the other woman's shoes. Even though half the population own the same pair of shoes; the shoes I was analysing seemed unusually familiar, the black high-top converse seemed different from the rest, I recognised these converse. The ones without an aglet on the left foot, with the faded logo from being worn so often. Those converse belonged to Emily Catherine Fields. I peeled my eyes off the shoes and they landed on the mirror.

Emily and my eyes met through the mirror. Her signature smirk reflecting at me

"Alison. It's good to see you" she smiled as I stood beside her washing my hands in the sink

"Hey Em. How are you?"

"Yeah, I'm good. Are you here alon..."

"No I'm with my dad and Jason" I nervously interrupted

"Oh okay"

"Are you? Alone?"

"Yeah, I was with someone but she left" Emily smiled

"I've missed you" I blushed

"I've missed you too" She smirked as the awkwardness dissolved from the air
