This part of the book will be exciting for me to write since I'm from Vancouver, and I hope y'all can learn some of the police terms we have here, as well as learn other new things about this city that I call home! So...on with the chapter!
Charlie's POV
Over the course of the nine hour flight, I had eaten, slept, watched some show called "Murdoch Mysteries", listened to music, and read a book. I never knew how fast time could pass when one had all these amazing things to entertain them; from many choices of television series, to loads of song choices in the music section of the flight screen. But then there was Dan, who was literally bored to death, having read his book twice, and not discovering the amazing mystery series on the little T.V. screen.
"Hello, this is your captain speaking. We'll be landing in Vancouver in approximately forty-five minutes, please put on your seat belts," the captain's voice advised through the overhead speakers.
"Dan! Alicia!" We're almost there!" I squealed with joy, slightly scaring the elderly woman who unfortunately had to sit next to me the whole flight.
"Yes, we know, now shut up!" they both laughed.
"Fine," I succumbed with an over exaggerated tone, slumping back into my seat and grumbling over their lack of enthusiasm.
I dove back into the television series of "Murdoch Mysteries" (Guys, you MUST watch it, like...it's amazing, but anyway- CARRY ON!), completely intrigued by the heartbreaking plot of season six. I was pretty sure that I saw a promo for the series in London, but I didn't think it would be so good! However, once the plane descended to a certain height, the screen shut off, showing the flight map and the amount of time it would take to land, much to my displeasure. 'What the fuck, Air Canada?! I was about to see what happened to Julia!!!' A massive frown formed on my face when I wasn't able to see the end of the episode that I was watching.
"Hello, this is your captain speaking. We're about ten minutes from landing, please stay in your seats," the pilot said in the speakers.
"I hate the landing bit," Alicia mumbled.
"So do I, but I try to convince myself that it's a good thing because it means I'm in cool place," I laughed, slightly cheering up the flight-sickness struck teen.
"Charlie?" Dan asked from his seat, the fluffy quiff on his head bobbing around when he made a sudden shift in position.
"Yeah?" I answered quietly, trying not to disturb the napping woman beside me.
"Shut the fuck up!" He laughed.
"Daniel Smith! Language! There's children on the flight!" I scolded, smiling when I saw the detective cower his head in embarrassment, with loads of pairs of mothers' furious eyes on him.
"Imagine if someone wanted to be like him," the coroner giggled at the homicide detective. "What a terrible role model!"
"Oi! Have you seen Kyle?!" he exclaimed in defense.
"Yes, I have, but at least he can make children laugh," she said with a sassy attitude, her rolling eyes visible in her window's reflection.
"Fuck off," Dan mumbled, only audible to the three of us.
'Watch your language!' I chuckled quietly, watching out of the window beside me. The high rises were quite nice, tall like some of London's towers, but not too fancy. The tip of the airplane's wing leaned in, and the city became closer in view each time the plane dipped down. We circled around, until the pilot was told to land, and with a heavy thud and a bump, the sound of wheels spinning against concrete was heard, signaling that we had landed with ease. Soon, the speedy wheels slowed to a slower pace, the airplane taking small turns and stops for other planes to pass through, but it eventually reached the terminal, making a small screech as it stopped and was secured in place.
