     Dan's POV

She escaped my grasp- again. Humiliation spread through my veins as the Seattle skyline became closer to us, every second reminded me that Hannah had managed to overpower me. I couldn't let my guard down here in America, not again, justice was needed for twenty-six people, for their families. I glanced over at Alicia, nodding her head to a song that was playing from her phone, and a rush of envy rushed through me. If only I was able to keep a cool head during rough times like this, but...I guess that the role of being a successful detective made its toll on me, raising up my anxiety levels, pushing the adrenaline faster, and despite all that, I loved my job.

"Okay," the well dressed woman scribbled down my personal information. "And how long are you going to be renting this car?"

"Erm...I'm not sure to be honest," my hand rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment. "We're chasing a fugitive, so I don't exactly know if she's going to leave the state or move somewhere."

"Oh, I see...umm...we can arrange a special deal, and maybe you can call the company when you think you're done with the car?" she suggested.

     "Uhh, s-sure," I awkwardly stammered.

And so, the deal was done, no more awkwardness, well, for now, but I just wanted to get out into the city to find her, take her back to London. It would be the best if I could see her get sentenced to life without parole, however, I knew that she would find a way to take advantage of that. This woman needed a worse punishment than a life behind bars; Hannah needed a taste of her own medicine. Usually, I was against the death penalty, and other methods of capital punishment, but seeing the damage she's done changed the way I see this system. Maybe some people don't think that killers, like Ted Bundy, deserved death, but after realizing how many lives these killers have taken, I was driven to be more skeptical about having mercy on all humans.

Why did the world have to be so fucked up? What goes on inside a serial killer's mind when they kill over and over again? Were they sane while killing, or did something possess them to murder innocent beings around them? Well, I would have to find The Nightmare to find out, but we needed to track her down first, lure the predator out into the open, make sure it gets put down before it strikes again. I'd have to be strategic about my actions, careful when the killer made hers. My job was a game of cat and mouse, and Seattle would be my hunting ground.

"Hey Dan?" Alicia asked as we drove through the busy streets. "Do you think...Will will get exonerated?"

"Y-yeah," I stuttered. "He...will." 'I hope he does.'

"Why does Seattle look like Vancouver?" Charlie curiously glanced out his window.

"Well, they are pretty close together," I reminded.

"Mmm...I guess," he shrugged his shoulders.

"So...where do you think she is?" I asked both of my colleagues.

"She could be hiding in broad daylight," Alicia pointed out. That was a true fact about The Nightmare, she loved to stay out in the open the taunt me, especially that day when I chased her out of Starbucks.

"True...or she could be hiding out in a rented out room," Charlie suggested.

"Agh," I groaned, brushing up my quiff with my hand. "Both theories are true, but I can't help but have a feeling that Hannah's planning something."
