Dan's POV

"Dan, why the fuck do you want to go to the police station now?! We just got off of a fucking nine hour flight!" Alicia's relaxed demeanor changed.

"Because the sooner The Nightmare goes to prison, the sooner I can feel better about this case," I rolled my eyes.

She let out a loud sigh. "Fine."

"Good, now let's get going," I slung my backpack over my shoulder, opening the door for my colleagues. "If I discuss this with Detective Marsh quickly, we can go grab something to eat," I said, making Alicia and Charlie's eyes light up. 'Food. It will always win over the mind of a detective and coroner.'

I laughed as the two bounced with joy leaving the apartment, eagerly getting into the car as soon as I unlocked it. Once again using Google Maps, I placed it into the wonderful phone holder that was built in beside the steering wheel, turning the volume up to the maximum to listen to the guiding female voice. Hopefully, this time I could drive to our designated location without fucking up, but after yesterday, my brain lost hope of correctly following the driving directions. And to add onto my pessimistic prediction, Alicia taunted me by saying little things like "don't fuck up", or "make sure you stare at the map properly".

"Wow, so far so good," Charlie gave a thumbs up. 'You bastard.'

"Thanks," I mumbled with sarcasm. "Such a good friend."

"Oh my fuck...." the coroner groaned from the back seat.

"What now?" I rolled my eyes.

"It's still fucking 1 pm here!"

"Yeah, so?" Charlie raised an eyebrow. "Vancouver's eight hours behind, what do you expect?" he glanced behind his shoulder.

The teen grunted and shrugged, staring back down at her phone again, ignoring the Google Maps voice. I shook my head, chuckling quietly, refocusing myself on the road and attempting to follow the map's directions. 'Alright, Dan. You can do this.' My eyes and ears worked together, taking each turn and road as directed by the Google app. When we arrived, I looked at the time, seeing that we hadn't taken very long to get to the station, satisfying my goal of not fucking up the procedure of coming here within an hour.

"We're here," I informed, nudging both of my colleagues with their noses in their phone.

"Oh, already?" my partner smirked. "That was fast!"

"Fuck you," I laughed, grabbing my bag from the back and locking the SUV.

Us three walked up to the single building, gazing up at the tallest floor in awe of the police's station's massive height. I thought our homicide department was huge, but it turned out that I was instantly proven wrong by the
V. P. D., shell shocked again when we entered the building. Soft, luxurious leather sofas filled the waiting area, along with a large fire place, a large bison head attached to the wall above it. 'Must be their symbol,' my mind drew the conclusion, the muscles in my feet and legs walking over to get a closer look at the furry, dark brown, horned animal head.

"Wicked," I mumbled, still star struck from the eye catching paintings on the walls.

"I see you've discovered our crest animal," the familiar voice said from behind me.

"This place...wow. It's much nicer than London's," a sheepish laugh escaped my mouth.

"Oh, I'm sure that the L. P. D. is nice too," Detective Marsh gave a reassuring slap on my back, smiling brightly.
