Dan's POV
"The jury finds you guilty in first degree murder, conspiracy to murder, second degree murder, second degree kidnapping, and first degree kidnapping. You shall be facing the death penalty: lethal injection," the judge's voice boomed as his gavel pounded loudly against the sound block.
"Yes!" Alicia cried out of relief and hugged me tightly.
"That fucker is gone for life!" Crystal cheered.
I was too distracted by Alan's death to be happy along with my colleagues and mates. I was glaring at a depressed-looking Hannah as she was taken by the arm by an officer. She was immediately placed in custody after receiving treatment for her hand at the Orlando Hospital, explaining why she was already wearing the orange jumpsuit that normal prisoners wore. There was a smirk somewhere at the back of my mind, but I didn't have the mood to bring it out knowing that the mastermind of this strategic London bombing was still lurking about. It was just that type of day when I didn't feel like bearing the emotions that I was supposed to be showing.
Hannah left the room with no words and never bothered looking back at me. I think she thought the fight was finally over between her and I. Took an awful lot of time for her to realize it.
"Something wrong, Dan?" Crystal ran her hand through my somewhat neat hair.
"There's something that's been bothering me..."
"How so?" She tilted her head with a peculiar face.
"It's about Alan Powell," I muttered while standing up in the fucking uncomfortable trousers that I had as my bottoms.
"You can deal with it when you head back to London," she patted my shoulder. "You should be-"
"I know, I know," I rolled my eyes and pushed my chair in. "I should be happy about Hannah and her death sentencing."
"Of course you should! The Nightmare is finally behind bars!" She exclaimed in the now-empty courtroom.
"But-"
"Dan, I got into contact with Detective John Orton of the London Police Department." Riki cut into the conversation, relieving me since I was under the pressure of Crystal's pressing question.
"And?" I slung my backpack over my shoulder. I just want to change into some shorts and a t-shirt.
"He's agreed to let you, Will, and Alicia stay here for another day before going back to the UK."
"Ah, thanks," I gave a thumbs up to Riki.
"We should celebrate!" Will exclaimed loudly. His enthusiasm unfortunately rubbed off to me. I really don't want to move around.
"Yeah!" Everyone raised their arms in agreement.
"Fine," I mumbled and sulked out the door to find a change room or bathroom.
"What's with him?" Riki retorted with a bizarre expression. It was clear as day that she wasn't used to being around me. I couldn't blame her either, given that she had only known me for less than a month.
"Don't worry," Will assured her. "He's fine. Just tired from all this chasing," he sheepishly laughed while giving a single pat to my shoulder.
"And probably burning his ass off," Alicia added in with a smile.
"Then let's go change and take a stroll around Orlando!" Crystal proposed.
