Chapter 4

-JAMIE'S P.O.V-

My nightmare had more of an effect on Lynn than it did me. I know she puts blame on herself, always guilty for walking out. I tried my best to explain my feelings.
With each touch, she just reminds me that she is here in the now and that's all that matters to me. I wish I could have taken back the lie but it was far from too late and now, after losing 7 months of my life because I was stupid... I feel no pain accept the pain from walking.
She's gone for work and I am left alone for a few hours. It's annoying but I won't sleep without her. I'm pretty sure that dream will come back if I do.
I didn't have to worry about being alone, I heard a ding from my phone.
~Can I come over? -Zee.
~Yeah.
~Door locked? -Zee.
~Might be. Key is in flowerpot beside door.
Instantly I heard the door open. She was already here?
"JAMIE?"
"Downstairs!"
I heard footsteps, running. Something was wrong or she would have just called to talk.
"Heya big sis. How's the marriaged life living?"
"3 minutes. And we're not married yet."
"Yet."
She goes and sits on the recliner. Turning it to face me. Her face... shows sadness. I feel...her sadness.
"What's wrong?"
I wanted to get up and hug her... But it hurt way too much to take one step.
"I think Rose is going to leave me. I know she is."
"Why do you say that?" I patted the bed and she came over and laid next to me.
"There's this guy following me around. He kept trying to touch me. Every single time, Rose is there. But she always catches the moments where he does it. Never the moments I tell him to fuck off." She sighs. "She won't text me. Or call. It's been 2 days."
"When did this shit start?"
"During."
"So... I wasn't there.. to back my own fucking sister up." I felt a tear slide down my cheek.
"It's not like that. He was going after me since last bits of school. And once it was over, he was everywhere. During school, he would try to touch me in the halls. Rose would always be with me but I knew she hated it. I tried so hard then to tell him off but he never listened. Now... now though. He came to the house and Rose walked in. He had his hands on my hips. I KNOW how she saw it. I KNOW. But I tried to explain. She didn't listen. Won't listen. I'm losing her because this dickhead won't fuck off. I want to get a restraining order. But I don't want to do it alone, you know?"
"Yeah.. I get that. Do you know his name?"
"William Groth."
"He sounds like a dick."
"JAMIE I'M SERIOUS!"
"Okay.. okay. Do you want me to have Rose come over? She'll be happy to visit her dearly crippled friend."
"You are learning to walk again, shut the fuck up." She looked at me with teary eyes. "And yes. Please."
I call Rose.
"Roooooose. I'm bored."
"Lynn at work?"
"Yeah. But I can't sleep. Last night was really bad."
"What happened?"
"Coma dream."
Zee's eyes widened. She knew I wasn't lying.
"Oh god. Want me to come over and we can talk?"
"Really?"
"For you? Anything. You're my best friend."
"The door should be unlocked so you can come right in and head downstairs."
"Okay. I'll be there in 20."
"Okay, see you soon."
She hung up.
"COMA DREAM?"
"Yeah..."
"Are you okay?"
"I'm getting there."
She pulls me into a tight hug.
"Tell me all about it."
"Okay... I guess." I said in a huge sigh.
"Well.. in the coma, I had a constant replay of Ly walking out. And saying 'Air.' And a flash of anger in her eyes I saw before she turned away from me. I thought I was in hell. I felt the pain I would have through the chemo and it made sense. I was in hell."
"Uhh.. what's 'Air' "
"Safeword. For anything and everything."
"Me and Rose have one but this time she just ignores me."
"She should be here in a few minutes... when the door sounds, go to the bathroom and hide."
"Okay"
The door shuts upstairs right after she says okay.
"Now."
She scrambles off the bed and runs in the bathroom quietly. She closes and locks the door. Rose comes down the stairs.
"Hey, boo. What's up? Oh my god. It's so nice down here. 2 tv's, a long couch, recliner and a huge bed oh my god."
"Thanks. I spent almost all I had to help Ly get it all."
"Dude this place is sweet." She climbs up next to me. "So... tell me about it all."
I told her about the memories within the coma. And the pain I felt.. She looked like she was going to cry.
"And I had a nightmare about being back there lastnight. I woke up screaming... Ly held me and helped me from it. But she and I were crying. She was so.. depressed because she though us having sex caused it.. because I didn't have them until after. But it's not true."
"Yeah, I get her point. I would feel like shit too if that happened with Zee. Why didn't you guys wait?"
"I was ready.. or I thought I was. But it helped me, Rose. It just snaps me into this reality where that was just a distant memory and she is here. She is still with me."
"And engaged. Don't forget that part."
"How could I?" I show the ring.
"It's beautiful. Lynn did good."
"Yeah."
My phone dinged.
~I'm so sorry. You're the strongest person I know... I want to hug you but I'm trapped in YOUR bathroom! -Zee.
I rolled my eyes.
"Who was that?" Rose asks.
"Zee. There is something wrong with her but she won't fucking tell me."
She scoffs.
"Yeah. Something wrong alright."
"What do you mean?"
"Zee and I. I'm pretty sure we're done."
"What? Why? What did my idiot of a sister do?"
"There is this douchebag that has been stalking her. But it became more. He is always touching her and she never stops him. I came over to the house a few days ago and he had his hands on her waist... so close to kiss. I just turned away and booked it out of there."
"Jesus.. do you think he followed her home?"
"I mean, yeah. But every time I see them... they're always touching and close. She's basically cheating on me."
"But she's gay. Zee doesn't swing that way."
"What makes you really think that? I'm her first girlfriend. She doesn't know if I'm what she wants."
"She loves you more than life. Which is saying a lot because she can be a fucking bitch."
"I.. hate that I love her. I hate it."
"That's how I felt when Ly and I first split."
"It's not fair."
"No, it's not. Have you at least heard her out?"
"I don't want to have anything to do with her. Her voice will crack me. Seeing her will kill me."
"I get it. I know how she is though. If she wants you she won't stop fighting."
"After this guy.. I'm done. It's not the first time. I know I'm just jealous but it still hurts."
"Want to know a funny secret?"
"Always. Cheer me up."
"So.. I had a dream... about you and hers wedding. It was like less than a year after Ly and mines."
She laughed loudly.
"Like she would ever go there."
"What if she ever did? Or if you guys made up and maybe you did?"
"You're crazy to think that. If she loved me wouldn't have been with him."
The bathroom door burst open with a loud slam.
"I DO FUCKING LOVE YOU! IF YOU WOULD HAVE HEARD ME OUT YOU WOULD KNOW HE TRIED TO FUCKING RAPE ME."
My heart stopped for a brief moment before anger set in.
"WHY THE FUCK DIDN'T YOU MENTION THAT TO ME ZEE!" I yelled to her. Rose looked from her to me. Her eyes burning with hate.
"You set me up?"
I nod. Zee starts walking towards Rose but Rose runs for the stairs. Without thinking... I should have fucking thought..
I jumped out of bed and ran after her but only made it about 5 steps before screaming in pain. Both stopped in place. My body collapsed to the floor.
I was crying.
"Jamie!" They yell in unison and rush to me.
I was gasping for air, the scream took every ounce out. My legs... felt.. broken? Like someone was constantly hitting them with hammers.
"If you would have just listened. If you would have.." I feel myself begin to black out from the pain. "Work.. it ..out"
The rest of my body feel to the floor. And the world was dark. I was back...

"Air." And walks out.
"Air." And walks out.
...anger in her eyes.. the pain in my legs.
Ly! Wake me up! LY! PLEASE!!!!
I screamed at the top of my lungs...but I was trapped in the dreamstate and I know no one would ever hear it.
...Please.. Ly.. don't leave.
