Chapter 71

-ZEE'S P.O.V-

   Watching my cousin light off the most beautiful fountain I have ever seen. It has purple and pink butterflies in it. I'm almost in a trance.
"ZZ..."
    I turn to see Rose... on.. one knee... I feel my world freeze around me... just her and I.
"Zee James, I am giving you all of me and asking for all of you. Never once in almost 5 years have I doubted my love for you. And never once will I. I need you in my life. You are my completion. Will yo"
"YES." I blurt out before she can continue.
"Will you m"
"YES."
    It almost doesn't feel real. But it is.. I can see the love flashing brightly in her eyes. My heart. My heart is going crazy.
"Babe, let me finish."
"Okay, okay... sorry." I blush... embarrassed.
"Will you Marry me?"
"YEEEESSSS" I yell to her.
   My family cheer as she slips the ring in on my finger next to the promise ring.. My knees give out and I fall to her. She holds onto me tightly and I begin to cry.
   The love of my life just asked me to marry her. In front if my whole family.

~   Did.. did you know?
     'Yes, sis. I knew.'
   
    I feel myself crying harder.
"Babygirl, don't cry. I didn't mean to make you cry."
"They're happy tears."
    My uncle made a really loud aw over everyone else's aws. It's annoying but made me feel better.
   Suddenly Rose stiffens under me.
"D..Dad?"
    Her dad is here!? I get up from her embrace immediately and help her up. She looks at me odd before running to him.
"DADDY!"
   She jumped on him and he spun her around, laughing. I couldn't hear what he was saying to her until he said the last part louder.
"Made it just in time to meet my daughter in law."

~   I'M SCARED.
     'I WOULD BE TOO. FUCK. I HAVEN'T SEEEN HIM SINCE THEY EXTENDED THE TOUR 6 YEARS AGO.'
     You. Are. No. Fucking. Help.
    'You're welcome.'

    I turn around and shot a death glare at her. Rose approaches me, her dad's hand in hers.
"This would be Zee. The love of my life for what seems like forever. And now fiancee."
    I feel blush hardcore. Like probably look like a tomato.
"Oh, I remember. The twins, Abby. All of you guys use to run around the house making so much noise on sleep overs."
"Yes, sir."
    He smiles to me. "Just Jack will do, Zee."
   I smile. Rose takes her hand from her dad and pulls me in a hug.
"Fiancee..."
   She laughs. "Yeah, Babygirl. You did say yes."
"Yes, I did."
    Her dad hugs us, her mom joins in. Oh.. family..
"LET'S CELEBRATE." Uncle Wally yells.
"Oh.. lord.. save me now."
    My mom pulls Rose's father aside out of respect.
"Will it be okay to continue the fireworks? I don't want to be rude."
"Yes, ma'am. You are not being rude. Thank you for respecting me."
"Of course."
   He salutes her and she smiles. Looks over to me and laughs lightly.
  
    The night continues. Rose laid a blanket out on the hill for us and I played next to her. Her arms around me.
"I can't believe.."
"I can't believe you said yes."
"I would have never said no. You are my heart and soul, Ro. But I feel like I'm dreaming."
"I actually had a dream. It happened exactly the same. Even my dad was in the dream."
"When?"
"Last night."
"That's insane."
    I lean up to look at her. The fireworks lighting up her eyes. She looks at me and smiles.
   Her hand finds my cheek and I lean in to her touch.
"I'm in love with an angel."
"You might have bitten off more than you can chew."
"With your family? Most definitely. But like Jamie said.. you can't control who you love."
"I wouldn't want anyone else."
   I lean in and kiss her lips. She kisses back. A few kisses turn to one too many.
   A subtle "ahem" comes from behind and it pulls us apart.
"S..Sorry.. Sir."
"Jack, Zee."
"Sorry, Jack."
   He laughs.
   I whisper to Rose. "I'm going to die."
"Why?"
"I feel like I'm going to die. Or wake up and this won't be real."
"It's real, ZZ."
    I wrap my arms back around her and we watch the family finish their fireworks. Jamie and Lynn were cuddling, much like we were. It's cute.

~   Are you ready?
     'More than ever.'
     I never pictured this for us, you know.
     'What do you mean?'
     Like how you're getting married in a month. I have a wedding to plan. I've been with Rose for 5 years... or so. Granted some was off and on, but we have always been together. I never once thought she would want to get married... to me. I'm not perfect.
    'Love doesn't have to be perfect. It has rough patches but if it's true, it gets you here. You're engaged. I'm getting married in a month. I'm cancer free. Got to skip last chemo month. Can go to my honeymoon. Have my hair back. There are always going to be rough patches in love, sis. But it's true love.'
    Yeah. It's true. I want to cry.
    'Why?'
    Happy tears. Like.. I want to scream at the top of my lungs. I'm so happy.
    'Sound proof basement. Going to have fun? Turn off twin thing though. Cannot handle...'
     Probably. And will do for sure.

   Rose kisses my cheek and then my temple. "Let me in." She whispers.
"Just thinking about you, Ro."
   Her lips claim mine. The kiss isn't long or deep but it's passionate.
"Gods I love you, ZZ."
"I love you too, Ro."
   A plop above us on the blankets makes me scream. I look up and see Jack.
"So when's the wedding?"
    I groan and Rose laughs.
"It's not funny." I push her.
"Don't know yet, daddy. Kinds just asked her like an hour ago."
   For some odd reason I felt my heart race. Holy fucking shit. I'm engaged to Rose.
   I guess it showed shock in my eyes because Rose squeezes my hand.
"So here's the deal. You are to visit your mom and me every other weekend. I know you live together. But I would like to see my daughter too."
"Yes, Sir."
"Jack."
"Sorry, Jack."
    Fuck. He scares me...
"That okay with you, Rosie?"
"Of course, daddy."
"Rosie."
"Shut up, Zhee." She pushes me. I laugh at her.
   Her dad laughs at us.
"Alright, my loves. I am off with your mother now. I'm going to take her on a date."
"Ooo. Dad, that's awesome."
"I'm nervous."
"You'll do fine, Jack. If there is anything special about your family, it's the charm."
   He laughs and Rose just turns different shades of red.
"Wish me luck." He kisses Rose's forehead and gets up.
   Once he is out of earshot I breathe. It's like he vacuumed all air in the area.
"Fucking hell... he makes me feel so.. tense."
"Why?"
"Cause he's your dad and a fucking war vet... And I already feel not good enough. It's intimidating."
"Zhee."
   I lock eyes with her as she pleads for my attention.
"You think I would have stuck with you all these years if you weren't good enough? Actually... probably. But still."
   I hold back a laugh.
"I love you so much, ZZ. And now you shall be mine forever."
"I was already yours forever."
   She smiles and brings a kiss to my lips. The kiss is slow.. sensual.. beginning to heat all of my body.
   We pull back. "I really want to go home."
"We can't yet."
"It's not fair."
   I climb and straddle her hips. "Like now."
"But your family.."
"Are all leaving right now."
"But.."
   I lean down and whisper to her. "Rose.."
   She bites her lip. So beautiful. Even in the moonlight, perfect eyes reflecting.
"Zhee."
    The way she says it sends chills down my spine. Leaving my body heated and a tingle in my lowers. Her eyes slowly turn black but flash love in the lust.

    Everyone leaves and we run off to our own mischief. I make love to my fiancee.. for what seems like a life time and it's painful when it ends.
   We just cuddle.. I lightly trace lines along her beautiful slightly toned belly. And I can't keep my lips from hers.
   Constantly kissing her, taking my breath away and hers. It's like I just need it. And she catches on.
"So affectionate."
"Mhm."
"Why?"
"The love of my life asked me to marry her today."
   She laughs softly "I thought I was going to choke."
"But you didn"
"Did. I did." She cuts me off. "But then.. everything clicked. It was like I suddenly had the confidence. It was when I saw your eyes. The love. It gave me the courage."
   I smile and kiss her lips again. Another long, deep kiss. Lasting til we are both breathless.
   When we pull back, both sigh.
"I never thought someone could be this happy."
"I never thought I would have been that scared."
   I laugh and kiss her cheek.
"I love you, ZZ."
"I love you too, Ro."
   With her holding me, I fell asleep. We both did. Everything falls into place now. Everything and it's beautiful.
   Life is beautiful but still have an adventure to go.
