Chapter 39

-JAMIE'S P.O.V-

"Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out.

"Jamie did you hear me?"

"Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out.

   I stare into the coma. Feeling nothing but the pain from it. The pain of the chemo. The everything. It's going to happen again.
   My feet guide me downstairs but only make it so far before I collapse to the floor.
"Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. "Air." She walks out. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Over. And. Over.

   Though my whole body hurts, I don't remember falling all the way to the floor... or holding my knees. But I hear in a distance her. She's not real. This is real.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
   A blur takes over my eyes but they're just tears. A lot of tears. Boiling hot tears.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

"Jamie. Talk to me. Jamie."

Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
    I felt myself shake to the uncontrollable tears.

"Jamie. I know you're in there."

" 'Air.' She walks out. 'Air.' She walks out. 'Air.' She walks out. 'Air.' She walks out. 'Air.' She walks out. 'Air.' She walks out. "

"I'm not leaving. Come back to me."
    I.. didn't say... that outloud.
"Come back to me, Jamie." I hear sadness in her voice but she is so far away.
Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
   Warm arms wrap around me, pulling me into a hold.
"Please come back to me. I forgive you. Just come back." Tears soak my shirt. "Please. Please, Jamie."

   Repeat. Repeat. She isn't real. It's just my mind trying to trick me so she is pulled away again. I'm not falling for it again. Not again.
"YOU'RE NOT REAL" I found myself able to scream.
   Repeat. Repeat. 

"I'm real. I'm here. I'm here. I need you to come back. I need you, Jamie. I need my fiancee. I need my wife. I need you. I forgive you. For yelling. For lying. Just come back. Please don't leave me to this."

   Repeat... Repeat.. Repeat..

"I'm real. Come back to me. Please, Jamie. Come back to me. I'm so sorry. I'm sorry for this. You don't deserve to be there. Come back to me."
   Her cries come closer to me. But echo..unable to pinpoint.
"Please don't leave me to this. I'm real. I'm real. Please, Jamie. Come back to me."
   The backside of my shirt felt soaked. At least.. I can feel.. that.
"It's just a nightmare. It's not real. I'm real. Come back. I need you. I need you."

   Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

   I rest my head against her shoulder.
"Jamie."
   It tries to repeat but it fades out. And everything clears...
   I take her hands in mine.
"You came back."
   I nod. She lets go of me, only to come around me and hold me in a tighter hug.
"I thought I lost you." I choke. "I thought I lost you..I d..did lose you.."
"I'm not leaving anytime soon. I never was. I never plan on it."
"I'm so sorry, Ly. For everything.. the lies... the hospital... the.... I lost.. I.. lost.... I was lost..... scared you.. were..gone... that... I never woke up... never... had this ring... never got you back... never... I was trapped...again." I spoke between my cries.
"I'm so so sorry, Ly. I don't deserve you. You don't deserve this."
"I already forgave you. I don't care. I was pissed. I was. It doesn't matter more than this. More than you. I'm just happy you're back. You came back. You came back to me."
"I came back... because of you. I wouldn't have... if it wasn't for you."
    She pulls back and looks at me. Her eyes so.. red.. her..
"I'm so.. sorr"
   She cuts me off with a kiss. The salt.. on her lips from her tears.. the kiss doesn't last long... a few seconds.. But when she pulls back.. something in her grey eyes explodes.
"You left me, Jamie. You went back there and there was no one. There was no one here. All light in your eyes died. Nothing but a shell. Please. Don't go back there. Stay with me, Okay? I am real."
"When did I say you weren't?" I questioned.
"You screamed it."
"Oh." I laugh lightly. "I'm sorry... it's not the first time.. a fake Lynn has.." I stop. "Nevermind."
"I'm real."
    I nod. I bring my palm to her cheek, she leans into my touch. "You are."
    I rest my head on her shoulder. Whether I like it or not, I'm going to fall asleep soon. And I just prey that dream isn't lurking in the shadows.
"Jamie?"
"Mm.."
"Hang on tight, okay?"
"Mhm."
   She stands up, I hold on tightly to her until she sits me on the bed.
   She starts to change out of her clothes, and I do the same, throwing them in a pile in the corner. She climbs in the bed and lays down. I take my spot, she covers us and her arms wrap tightly around me.
"I will never leave you again, Jamie. You're stuck with my ass."
"A sexy ass." I try to make a joke to lighten the mood..
   She laughs lightly.
"I'm serious, Jamie."
"I know.. You're stuck with me too."
"Unfortunately."
   I laugh a little.
"Don't go back there."
"I was... sort of dragged.."
"Oh."
"Don't worry about it. It was my fault."
"It wasn't."
    I won't argue... But it was.
"Stop. I heard that."
"Jesus... okay."
    Can you hear... I love you?
"I love you too."
"You're fucking creepy."
"You do it to me too. But not worse than the twin thing."
"THERE IS N"
    Ding.
"Not ever answering that."
    The phone rings.
"It's fucking 3 in the morning. Tell her to stop."
"I'm not doing anything!"
