How can the world be so cruel? I am mated to a werewolf, an alpha no less! I'm getting ahead of myself. This whole thing started when I moved to Florida. I moved with my sister. I am running away. From what you ask? Hunters. They have been hunting me for over five years. I moved, hoping I could stay for at least another month. My sister, Holly, is only nine, I felt guilty for ripping her away from her new home. My name is Bria Matthews and I am the only cat shifter left in the world.

I open my eyes at groan at the high pitched trill of my alarm clock. I slammed my palm against it as rolled over. Today was the first day of school. It was my last year of high school. For that I am happy, I hate enrolling in a new school every few months. I finally get out of bed and get ready. Looking in the mirror I saw my pitch black hair and yellow eyes. My pupils are thin, like a cat. I sigh and put in my contacts, which change my eyes to dull brown. My skin is pale, far paler than it should be. I am thin, from lack of eating. I also have black cat ears and a tail, but only when my cat shifter takes over. I pull on a hoodie and sweat pants. I look at the clock and go into Holly's room to wake her up.
"Come on, get up." I urge. She opens her eyes and yawns.
"Good morning Bri."
"Good morning Hol." I walk out of her room to make her some breakfast. I cook some eggs and she comes down the stairs wearing jeans and a white tee shirt. Her blonde hair is wavy and reaches her waist. Her brown eyes look happily up at me. She isn't a cat shifter, she took after my father, who was human, while I took after my mother, who was a cat shifter. She sits down at the table and I bring her plate to her. She eats quickly and we both grab our bags and head off to school. I drop her off and sign her in. My school starts later than hers, so I have a few minutes. I walk into school and see many people milling in from of the school.
"Look, it's the new girl."
"She's hot." I look down, pretending I can't hear them. Sometimes I don't like having super sensitive hearing.
"What grade is she in?"
"Ours I think." I hear footsteps and two boys are in front of me.
"Hi, I'm Brock." He says smiling. Brock has light brown hair and blue eyes.
"I'm Pat." The other boy says. He has dark brown hair and green eyes.
"I'm Bria." I say.
"What grade a you in Bria?"
"I'm a senior." I say crossing my arms over my chest. I naturally feel defensive with new people.
"Same as us." Brock says smiling. Both boys tower over me, I am unnaturally short at 5'2. I sniff subtly and smell wolf. I wonder what pack they're from. Wolves can't smell me, I mask my scent.
"I have to get to my locker." I say walking past them. I walk into the office and wait for the receptionist to notice me. She is too busy yelling at another boy. Breathe deeply through my nose and smell more wolves. The receptionist turns and smiles at me.
"Bria?" She asks. I nod and she hands me my schedule. I can't help but feel the other boy's eyes on me. "Have a nice day, and don't hesitate to ask for help." I nod and go to find my locker.
