Nick went to Kaela’s house, which was a large bungalow located near the sea. He needed her help. When he rang the doorbell, he realised no one was inside. Within minutes, her pink Ferrari drove in.

“Nick, why are you here?” she wound down the window and asked enthusiastically.

“Someone wants to kill us,” he said hurriedly as he got into the car.

“Yeah. I told you that when Caleb died,” she said, feeling disappointed.

“Sorry, it didn’t sink into my head,” he shrugged.

“Okay, so who is that person? Stella Robbs?” she asked exasperatedly.

“No. Micheal Owell or Mr Rousseau. I don’t know if they are together or they are working separately or there is a bigger mastermind like one of our parents, or uncles or aunties.” Nick found himself speaking so fast and incoherently.

“Don’t be ridiculous. Why would our parents want us dead? Are you sure it’s not Stella?” she asked, feeling annoyed even when saying that girl’s name. He shook his head and she grew angry, “Seriously, Nick. Why do you always protect her? Who is she to you? She murdered everyone. Can’t you just accept that?”

“I don’t have time for explanations. Stella left, okay? She’s gone and she won’t be back, ever. I can’t afford to lose you, Kae. I mean it.” He was speaking halfway when Kaela pulled him to her. The car seat moved backwards and Nick found himself perched on Kaela. She started to kiss him deeply. He grew confused. What was this feeling? He did not like it.

He was unable to speak until Kaela took her lips from his mouth as she looked at his eyes which had been wide open all along.

“What’s wrong?” she breathed. He took the edge of his shirt and wiped his lips, where her lipstick had been smudged on.

“Nothing.” He got up and sat back on his seat. She looked pretty upset about his lackluster response after he had finally said something romantic to her.

“It’s alright,” she lied and pulled up her dress which had fallen to cover only half of her breasts. She wondered if he was thinking of that girl and she searched his face for answers, but she found none.

“Is she really gone?” she finally asked.

“I told her to leave this place,” he answered vaguely. His face was emotionless. She thought about what she said to Brandon earlier about killing Stella. Should she continue to wish her dead, now that she no longer was a threat to her? She took her phone out and contemplated on whether to stop Brandon.

“I’m going to try to find out who Mr Rousseau and Micheal Owell really are. I’m quite afraid that I may not be able to win them, if they really killed Helen and Stephen,” he began. Kaela kept her phone and said, “I’ll go with you. I’m quite powerful too. How about your parents and my parents?”

“I don’t want to risk your life. In fact, I don’t even know if they are the ones who killed Helen and Stephen.”

“So you came to find me to tell me that you are possibly going to die?” she asked sarcastically, “While I stay here and wait.”

“I was thinking of asking Brandon to help. His powers complement mine better,” Nick said.

“I’m coming with you. All of us are. If they want to kill the heirs, they should fight us when we are together,” Kaela said.

“What if we die together?” Nick refuted. Kaela looked at his serious eyes and she, too, started to be afraid.
