Trubel's POV - Continuation of the previous chapter

When Andre came back with the others, we had ten minutes to finish our preparations.

The normal humans (Robbie, Grant, and Dwaine), aside from Andre, started mixing the corn syrup and dye, and started putting it in small bags. Roy slowly unchained my arms, again. There was an entire crowd making sure I wasn't going to start throwing punches.

I was being watched by four Balam (Bruno, Julian, Marcus, and Orion), two Weten Ogen (Zach - his nose was still broken from when I head butted him on my first day - and Hunter), a Pflichttreue named Walter, and a Klaustreich named Michael.

I was glad I had come up with the fake death plan; Nick and I wouldn't have stood a chance against all of these people.

Andre threw my body armor to me, and I caught it. They took my leather jacket from me when I first got here, so I was just wearing a tank top at the moment. Some of the guys looked at me like they expected me to take my shirt off to put on the body armor; I really hated these people.

I put the armor on over my shirt and told Julian to give me his jacket. He complained but eventually did it. I chose his jacket because Julian was a lot bigger than me and his jacket might conceal my body armor better.

"Where's Dwaine?" I asked.

As soon as I said that, Dwaine ran in, holding the bags of fake blood and a roll of duct tape.

"Right here," he said. He handed me the roll of tape and I started ripping off pieces and taping the bags of blood to my hard body armor. When that was done, I zipped up Julian's jacket.

Andre looked at his watch. "If Burkhardt's on time, he should be here in four minutes," he said.

"Okay," I said. I took a deep breath in an attempt to calm myself and sat against the pillar. Roy started chaining my wrists together. I looked up at Andre. "Do you have the magazine?"

He pulled out my Glock that he had tucked into the back of his pants. "Yeah."

"Okay," I said. "Don't forget to shoot me from far away, okay?"

Andre nodded.

"In the chest," I said. "Don't miss."

"Okay," he said annoyed.

"Remember, if I die, you lose your Grimm and the North End Crew lives. Keep me alive," I warned. I just needed to make sure he was still on the same page as me.

"I know," Andre said. "I do want to see what you'll do," he admitted.

"Good," I said.

Andre started walking out of the room, but stopped in the doorway.

"If this were a real hostage situation, I would have gagged you already. I wouldn't want you screaming and messing everything up. You could tell your friend how many of us there are, where we are, that it's a trap..." He droned on.

"Just do it," I said, annoyed. Andre pulled a bandana out of his pocket and kneeled down in front of me.

"Knock out Nick after shooting me. We don't want him awake long enough to see I'm still breathing. We need him unconscious while we clean everything up. And we have to be fast. His friends will come here a few minutes after Nick gets here."

"Got it," Andre said. He reached towards my face to tie the gag on.

"I hate you," I promised him.

He grinned and said, "I hate you, too," while tying the gag around my face. When he was done, he got up and waited for Nick in the other room.

Part of me couldn't believe I was actually going to let Nick suffer like this. Part of me couldn't believe I had come up with the plan to let Nick suffer like this.

The rest of me told those parts to shut up and do my best to convince Nick I was dead.

I groaned.

All of this happened because I had to find a Mauvais Dentes that I didn't know dying in the street, and I had to try to save him.

I guess there were a lot of things I could blame. HW for putting me on an assignment at 2:00 in the morning that led me to find Roy. I could blame just Roy. Or, I could blame myself.

This was definitely my fault.

This sucked.
