Trubel's POV

The party went great. No one seemed even a little mad at me which was unexpected. Instead, they all just talked about how happy they were to have me back. It was a pretty good feeling.

Anyway, we had already eaten dinner, and now people were starting to leave Nick's house. I figured I should go, too.

"See you around, Nick," I told him. "Thank you for all of this."

"You're ready to leave?" Nick asked me skeptically.

"Um, I thought so..." I told him.

"Nope. We have one more thing to take care of," Nick informed me. "Come with me," he said. He started leading me to the elevator before turning around and yelling "Roy! Come on!"

Roy had been talking to Josh and Bud but was now already heading in our direction. "You ready?" Nick asked Roy.

"So ready," he said.

"Ready for what?" I asked.

"Revenge," Roy growled playfully.

Roy and I all climbed into Nick's car. He drove us to what looked like a pretty expensive neighborhood to live in and parked his car along a curb in front of a fancy house.

"What are we-?" I began to ask.

"Just wait," Nick commanded.

I listened to him for once in my life and waited as a car pulled up on the other side of the road. It was a man. He crawled out of his car and fumbled for his keys before finding them and locking his car. He had to turn toward us to walk around his car which allowed me to look at his face.

"Thomas Carson?" I asked.

"That's the guy from HW that refused to help me find you," Nick explained. "And the guy that wouldn't let Gabriel help me."

"This is the best present you could have gotten me," I said, pretending to get emotional. Nick, Roy, and I all laughed at that.

"Do you want us to come with you?" Nick asked.

"I got this, but cover me in case he gets any ideas," I said, jumping out of the car.

"Carson!" I yelled. He turned around and looked at me indifferently.

"You look alive and well," he said, eyeing me up and down.

"No thanks to you," I said angrily as I walked closer to him.

"You should walk away before you do something you regret," he warned.

"Oh, I think I would regret walking away more than anything else," I told him.

He laughed lightly to himself. "You better watch yourself, Rubel. This could get ugly."

"I hope it does," I growled.

"You can get in big trouble for attacking another agent," he warned.

I shook my head, pretending to think it over. "Not as I understand it," I told him. "You see, I think it was another agent that said something like, 'No one is going to help a silly person that got themselves into trouble.'" I stared at his horrified face as my words sank in. "HW isn't going to help you. As you said, they, 'Have bigger fish to fry.'"
