Roy's POV

It had been a long day for Trubel. I was surprised that she was as composed as she was, actually, considering she had just suffered through watching her own funeral. She seemed to pull herself together before we got home, but it looked like something in the newspaper had upset her. While the others were laughing and talking about how they would spend Trubel's share of the money, I walked over to the coffee table and grabbed the balled-up newspaper from the floor.

I read the first page and realized it was an article about Andre's robbery. He killed someone.

I remembered when he and Trubel got home and were fighting about how she got in the way during their mission. She must have known that Andre had killed someone, so why did it bother her now? Maybe she just didn't like the reminder.

I thought it might be good if I talked to her, though I wasn't sure what I was going to say. I made two sandwiches and brought them with me down to the basement. Trubel was sitting on the couch, hugging her knees and staring at the black screen of the TV.

"Trubel?" I asked. She didn't answer.

"I made us some sandwiches," I added quietly.

"Thanks," she mumbled tonelessly, still staring at nothing.

"Maybe you should-" I began.

That got her attention. "Don't even think about telling me what I should do right now," she growled, looking up. Something about her expression was cruel, yet her eyes looked sad.

"I'm sorry-" I began again.

"I don't want you to be sorry, I want you to leave me alone!" she yelled, standing up from the couch, and walking aggressively towards me. I backed away from her quickly and set her sandwich on the bar's countertop.

"You knew that the guy died in the robbery. Why do you care all of the sudden?" I demanded, starting to get mad, myself.

"I don't," she denied.

"Hey," I objected. "I've been trying to help you this whole time. You could at least give me a few answers."

Trubel said angrily. "Because I owe you, right? Just like I owe Andre?"

"That's not what I mean," I denied. I woged; I couldn't help myself. I felt like I had to defend myself for some reason.

"Yeah, it is," she yelled. "Don't worry. I'll add you to the list of people I owe something to and will eventually disappoint." She was talking about her friends, now.

"I don't want that," I hissed angrily.

"Then, leave me alone," she suggested bitterly.

"No problem," I growled, suggesting it would be an easy thing to stay away from her. I woged back into human form and ran up the stairs.

Trubel's POV

I couldn't stop hurting people. Maybe I belonged here with the rest of these monsters.
