| Manhattan, NY |

The grass felt nice and soft where Jay and Alice laid down on at the park, looking up at the stars. The two laid side to side of each other, gazing at the night sky, enjoying the moment.

The two had spent the whole day together after school let out. Jay and Alice met up at their favorite coffee shop in the heart of Manhattan and studied, although Jay kept distracting Alice from her school work, but she didn't mind. She had always liked Jay's playful side. It was a part of him that not many people were familiar with and it would make her smile that she could always bring that side out.

Although, in the moment, Alice's blissful state began to vanish because of the impending trial and how it would affect Jay.

Her parents had informed her yesterday about what was happening. How Taehyung took measures into his own hands and plans to fight for full custody. Alice was taken back by how Taehyung made a bold move out of nowhere, with no warning. Taehyung had never been an enemy in her eyes, but the thought of him trying to ruin something for his own personal gain seemed selfish.

It brought sad thoughts to Alice. Having to say goodbye to Jay and Taemin. Seeing Jungkook is so much pain. Things looked dark and she feared for the future.

She could only imagine how Jay must feel about all of this. He had always disliked Taehyung, but this could make things permanent. Although there was a good chance that the court will side with Jungkook, things would never be the same again for his family.

"You okay?" Jay's voice brought Alice back from her thoughts and she turned to meet his eyes.

"Yeah, I'm good," she nodded. Jay smiled which made his eyes squint. It was true what Taehyung said the first time they met in the limo. She always loved the way his eyes sparkled when Jay was around her.

"What are you thinking," Jay asked.

Alice shrugged her shoulders. "You, as corny as that sounds."

Jay let out a chuckle. "Oh really? What is it about me that is so mesmerizing?"

Jay's and Alice's foreheads were touching at that point and she could hear Jay's breathing fill in and out of his chest.

"Getting to see those eyes and that smile. I never want it to go away."

Jay smiled. "Wow, you know how to make a guy blush."

"I'm just glad you're in my life, Jay. I couldn't imagine it without you," Alice said looking into his dark, brown eyes.

Jay locked his fingers around Alice's and squeezed them. "Me too."

Alice sighed and shook her head in disbelief. "I can't believe what you're going through right now. It isn't easy for anyone."

Jay burrowed his eyebrows in confusion. "What are you talking about?"

"Your dads and the custody case. You're so strong even with everything going on. I don't know what I'd do if my dads had to fight for me."

Jay pulled away and stared at Alice in disbelief. It caught Alice off guard. "What custody case?"

"You don't know?" Alice sat there looking at Jay, wondering what was going on.

"Know what? I don't know anything about what you're talking about," Jay replied in an angry tone.

"The custody battle between your dad and Taehyung. My parents told me yesterday. Why hasn't anyone told you," Alice said.

Jay's jaw dropped, but he quickly got infuriated. "I don't fucking know! I don't know anything! Oh my god, those assholes and their shit!" Jay started kicking at the ground fiercely.

"Taehyung wants full custody of you guys. The trial is taking place in a few weeks in Los Angeles," Alice added.

"That son of a bitch can only dream. There's no way I'm living with him, or even wanting to see his face ever again!" Jay looked back at Alice.

"Why didn't my dad say anything to me," Jay exclaimed.

Alice shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know. He should've told you."

"That asshole!" Jay immediately pulled out his phone and dialed Jungkook.

"Hello?"

"Dad, why the hell is Alice just now telling me that you and my father are fighting for custody? What the hell is wrong with you?"

Jungkook was quiet for a second. "Jay, calm down."

"Calm down? Like hell I'm gonna calm down! You should've told me from the beginning! I can't believe I had to find out about this after everyone else!"

"I was planning on telling you, I swear."

"Yeah, well how's that working out. You've caused this with the whole 'let's be a family again' bullshit! You might think this is only your problem, but I'm just as fucked as the rest of you."

Jay hanged up before his dad could respond.

"Jay, hold on," Alice said.

Jay paused her. "I'm not done." He began calling Taehyung's phone.

"Kim Taehyung's phone. Who is this?" It was a stranger answering.

"I need to speak with Taehyung," Jay said.

"He's currently busy at the moment."

"Listen here, move your ass and tell that asshole that Jay is calling and that he better answer."

"One moment." The other line was silent until Taehyung's voice answered. "Jay?"

"Alright so here's what's going to happen. If you think you have a chance at winning this case you better change your expectations. I don't care what you think or say, but there is no way I'm going to live with you. And once we're done with the shit you've started, don't ever think you're going to be a father to me. You're dead to me you fucking asshole. See you in court."

Jay hanged up and threw his phone across the grass. He turned his attention to Alice who just stood in place, waiting for a reaction.

"Let's get out of here. The day's been ruined," Jay said.

Alice nodded and started walking towards Jay once he got his phone back. He held out his hand for her, which surprised her, but accepted it. She laid her head on her chest and they didn't talk for the rest of the way. His face stayed stern, but he stayed calm with Alice by his side.
