Enjoy.

Hau found himself deep in Vast Poni Canyon, looking through rocks and bushes. It had been hours since they had gotten there, but Hau was determined.

"What is it we're looking for again?" Sun asked him.

"A shiny Kommo-o scale, I heard that they're super rare! Imagine how cool it would be to have something that special!" he replied enthusiastically.

Sun sighed, but Hau knew he was smiling, even though he wasn't looking at him. They'd been friends long enough for Hau to know his little quirks. His fake sighs sounded a little different than his real ones, so Hau knew not to take it to heart

He heard Sun start to shuffle behind him and he guessed that he had started searching again. Hau enjoyed small moments like these, ones where he could spend time with Sun, wasting the day away.

"Auwe!" Hau realized that the ground around him had been dyed a tint of redish-orange, "Is it sundown already?!" he looked up to see the sun dipping down over the tops of the canyon.

"Sorry about that Sun, I lost track of time." Hau smiled sheepishly and scratched the back of his head. He really hadn't meant to keep his friend this long, especially since he had champion duties to get to.

But Sun smiled back at him wholeheartedly, "It's fine, I really enjoyed spending some time with you!"

A feeling unlike any other slammed into Hau, he took in the way that Sun smiled, the way they the sun reflected off of him, adding to his radiance. It was all beautiful.

"Yeah..." he mumbled, unable to process anything else.

"Hey Hau, my birthday is next week. I'm busy that day, but do you want to hang out the next day?" he asked, averting his eyes from Hau.

"Huh? Oh, of course! You don't even have to ask!" the green haired boy flashed a wide grin at Sun.

"Well, I've gotta fly for now, see ya later!" Sun called out a Charizard through his pager, waving to the boy as he left.

He watched as the silhouette of the giant lizard disappeared into the distance. Now that he was alone, Hau flopped down onto his back, looking into the sky as the sun went down.

"I have to find something perfect for his birthday." Hau said to himself.

He sat there thinking for a while, thinking about different things he could get, not getting anywhere. The moon made its way into the sky, the sun had finally set.

A faint shimmer caught Hau's eye as he laid there. It reflected the moonlight from behind a shrub, Hau moved it out of the way and picked up the object.

He rubbed his thumb over the object, it had a smooth feel on once side and a gritty texture on the other. It shined with a pink and green glow that was oddly beautiful and alluring despite its odd colors. He had found it.

In that moment Hau knew that this was what he wanted to give to Sun, it was the only thing that had come oven remotely close to giving Hau that same feeling that he got when he was with the other boy.

That night he went home and tried to think of how to give it to him, he figured he'd sleep on it. After all, Sun only deserved the best.

...

The next morning Hau knew just what he wanted to do. Very carefully, he attached a clasp to the top of the scale, before sliding a small simple chain through it to make a necklace.
