Not quite sure how good this is, sorry. I really like the idea of this one, but I'm not too sure how it ended up. It came up a little short and I think I could've written it out longer.

The songs Ruby sings are "Going Under" by Evanescence, which I happened to be listening to while writing this, and "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars, cause I needed a love song and that's the first one I thought of despite the fact that I don't listen to Bruno Mars that often, lol.

"Sapphire get off of him."

Sapphire turned to see the coach with a disappointed look on his face. She grunted and stood up, pushing off of the boy below her.

"Sorry coach." she said, her face flushed.

She hadn't meant to do that, she was supposed to run the play that they had rehearsed, but when the runner with the ball had passed her, she had tackled him almost on instinct.

"Why don't you sit out of this one? Go back to the gym." Coach sighed and Sapphire knew she had messed up. The looks from the other players told her too.

Red, her friend and a senior, smiled at her, trying to tell her it was fine, but she knew that this was happening too often to be good for her sporting career.

"Yeah." she left the field and made her way inside, taking off her uniform and pads, throwing them in her locker.

"Damn it!" her shout echoed through the locker room. If she kept this up, she'd be cut off the team. She just needed to listen, but that was always a problem she had. She felt she needed to take things into her own hands constantly.

She felt like an idiot.

She slid into a changing stall and slipped her practice shirt off and put on her normal clothes. She put a towel around he neck and began to put her things away in her backpack, then she heard a noise.

No, noise wasn't the right word. Music. And damn good music at that.

She peeked out of the locker room and looked around the hall, it was coming from the choir room.

Some student probably left some speakers on in there when they left, though the song sounded like a cover. A cover that was better than the original, because she had never heard this song sung this good.

"Always confusing the thoughts in my head, so I can't trust myself anymore!"

Whoever it was sounded really into it, she saw the door was cracked and decided to open it slowly, the music getting louder.

"I'm dying again. I'm going under!"

Now that she heard it in its full volume, it was much more beautiful than she expected. She peered around a corner, further into the classroom.

A boy sat there, a guitar in his lap, eyes closed, lost in the song he was singing. He leaned into the lyrics and occasionally opened his beautiful red eyes to check his fingers placement on the guitars strings.

"I've got to breath, I can't keep going under!"

Before she knew it the song was ending, she found herself still staring at the boy. He glanced at the click on the wall and began to put away his guitar. He pulled out his headphones and looked up, locking eyes with Sapphire.

He jumped back a little in his seat, clearly flustered, "Wha- What are you doing here? Did you forget something?" he asked and despite her best attempts at pushing the thought back, his voice was pure magic.
