Doro had just left, and Lai stood with her mom and dad in their kitchen. They all just looked at each other. Lai's mom had accidentally hinted at something they needed to do later, during the time that Doro was here.
"Sooooooooo?" Lai said, "are you seriously not going to tell me?"
"No. I'll tell you." her mom said somberly, "We think it's time to clean out your Grandmother's old house."
"ummmmmmmmmmmm.... Why is that sad? Doesn't she live there?"
"No. No. She-she died be-befor-for you were born. A-Along with her friends." She stuttered.
This was news to Lai. She had never really given her Grandma much thought. She had always just figured that she didn't like kids. But- now that she really thought about it.... Lai didn't even know her Grandma's name, much less the fact that she was dead.
"What was her name? And her Husband's name?"
"Uh.... She was Sophiemai Foster, and her husband was either Fitz Vacker or- or Keefe Sencen." Her mom was lying. Completely. But why?
"Ok. Let's go!" she cried, because if they went, maybe she could learn more about this mysterious Sophiemai Foster.
