Chapter Twelve

UMAGA na nang magising si Deejay. After the most incredible night of her life, she was alone when she woke up. After a night in the arms of a very skilled lover, she was left alone, with nothing but memories.

She stupidly offered herself to Ahrkhei. The way she begged him to sleep with her made her face burning hot with shame. She wasn’t drunk.  She was just tipsy. Malinaw sa isip niya ang lahat ng nangyari.

  She let herself become lost in him, in ways she hadn’t allowed before. The need, the hunger, the feeling of connection, of a bond. There had been no way to deny the cravings.

  His arms surrounded her. His hands caressed her body as he whispered something to her ear. But she couldn’t process it. She didn’t want to process it. She simply wanted to feel. She just wanted to be a part of him. To simply be a man and a woman, with no past, no future, only the present.

  Ahrkhei slept with her. He had granted her wish. One night… She knew that moment would never return, and she was so desperate to hold on to it, to hold on to him. But she fell asleep. Then he deserted her.

   Ngayon ay nakaganti na ito sa panloloko niya dito. Ang masaklap, hindi man lang siya nito binigyan ng pagkakataon na magpaliwanag.

Bumangon siya at ibinabad ang sarili sa loob ng bath tub. Iniluha niya ang sinapit sa kaisa-isang lalaki na minahal niya nang lubusan. Tumunog ang cellphone niya. Tumakbo siya para sagutin iyon, but she was disappointed to find out na iba ang caller niya.

“Gelo?”

“Salamat naman at nagising ka na. Kagabi pa ako dumating. Hindi na kita ginising dahil mukhang mahimbing na ang tulog mo.”

Shit! Galing si Gelo dito kagabi. Ibig sabihin, kagabi pa siya iniwan ni Ahrkhei. Ibig sabihin, nakita ni Gelo ang mga damit niya na nagkalat sa sahig. Did he saw the stain, too? Nag-init ulit ang mukha niya.  

“Lipat ka dito. Kasama ko si Julie.” Ang tinutukoy nito ay ang Filipina-Chinese girlfriend nito na nakilala nito sa Singapore.

Nang magkaharap sila ni Gelo ay ibinalita agad niya dito ang tungkol kina Cherry at Karlo. “Malaya na siya, Gelo.”

“But I’m with Julie now.”

“I thought you love Cherry?”

“I did, you know that.  But I’ve never felt so happy and secure like this before. I’m in love with Julie now.”

Tinitigan niya nang diretso si Gelo. She saw that sparkle in his eyes. “Buwiset! Kung alam ko lang na ganoon kadali mo lang makakalimutan si Cherry? Hindi na sana ako pumayag sa mission na ipinagawa mo sa akin. Ipinahamak mo lang ako, letse ka!” Binatukan niya ito nang malakas.

“Hey, everything happens for a reason. Nakilala mo si Ahrkhei, at nakilala ko si Julie.”

“Yeah! I’ve got a broken heart that will remain unfixed forever, and you found a new love. That’s amazing!”

“Don’t regret anything that made you happy, even for a short while only. He had been a part of you, Deejay. He taught you how to love.”

“And he gave me a terrible heartache. Twice.”

“You’ll get by.” Inakbayan siya ni Gelo.

Later that afternoon ay nakatanggap siya ng tawag mula kay Matilda na kasalukuyang nasa honeymoon trip nito. Pinakikiusapan siya nito na pansamantalang mag-relieve sa isang staff nito na nagkaroon din ng dengue, hanggang sa makabalik ito mula sa tour. Hindi niya napahindian ang babae, lalo pa’t nasa boses nito ang matinding kaligayahan. She was happy for her. She was happy for everyone who had found their true love, even if she lost hers.
