Chloe: Thanks for telling me KK. I gtg.
Kendall: Ttyl. Stay strong!

I'm obviously not staying strong because I lay down on my bed and cry.

A few minutes later, I get a text. I thought Kendall knew I didn't want to talk right now. I check my phone and gulp.

The text is from Josh.

Chapter 17

I take a deep breath, then open up the text.

Josh: I'm cheating on you.

Is that really all he has to say?

Chloe: Is that all you have to say?
Josh: Um... Yeah I guess.
Chloe: Well, I already know. Kendall told me.
Josh: This is really awkward.
Chloe: Mhm.

I honestly don't know why I haven't freaked out on him yet.

Josh: I'm sorry.

Maybe it's because I still see the good in him.

Chloe: I need to tell you something.
Josh: You can tell me anything.

I bite my lip. I honestly don't know if I can tell him anything, but I decide to tell him anyways.

Chloe: I'm kind of cheating on you too.
Josh: Seriously?
Chloe: I'm not actually sure. I kinda like this guy and I think he likes me too.

I nervously chew my nails when he doesn't respond after a minute. Is he mad? Finally, he responds.

Josh: What does this mean?

I think. I'm not sure what it means. Are we still dating? I guess not. Is he dating someone else? I then realize that I never found out who he was cheating on me with.

Chloe: I'm not sure.
Josh: Who did you cheat on me with?
Chloe: Jacob.
Josh: Oh.
Chloe: What about you?
Josh: Maddie.

Maddie? We used to be really close, but then she stopped talking to me. I always wondered why. I guess it all started when I met Josh.

•flashback•

"Want to come over after school today?" 10-year-old Paige asked Maddie and I.

"Sure!" we said in unison and giggled.

When we got to her house, she showed us her room.

"This is my room!" Paige said.

"It's perfect!" I exclaimed, when I saw her flawless pink bedroom.

"Paige, have you seen my soccer ball?" a blonde boy said, walking into her room.

"No Josh! Get out!" Paige screeched at him.

The second I saw Josh, I knew I was in love with him. I saw the same look in Maddie's eyes. Even though when we were 10 we didn't really know what love meant.

"This is my brother Josh," Paige explained.

I smiled at him and he smiled back. Immediately, Maddie looked jealous.

The next week, I decide to invite Maddie and Paige over. We called our group the unbreakable trio, which was ironic because they hadn't really been talking to me recently, which shows that we weren't really unbreakable. I decided to invite them over anyways and stop whatever was going on between us.

"Do you want to come over to my house after school?" I asked Paige and Maddie, flashing them a quick smile.

"Umm... No thanks," Maddie said, then looked over at Paige and giggled.

My smile quickly faded as I turned away and went to play by myself at recess, but I could've sworn I saw Paige give me an apologetic smile before I left.

Ever since that day, Paige and I still talk now and then, but Maddie and I never spoke again. That's why it broke my heart to know that Josh cheated on me with Maddie.
