'MY SOUL ON FIRE'

can you set my soul on fire?
burn my lungs up,
till i'm no longer able
to properly breath.

can you hold
my words close to
your heart,
so when i light up,
those words will spark

drowning, drowsy days
is all i've ever known...
but when your fingertips reach out
for my wounds that are stitched,
i actually feel like

i'm home.

maybe...
or i hope..
that when i speak,
your heart

s

k

i

p

s

a beat,

like mine does when you look at

me.

it's a pretty cliche lullaby
that you hum
underneath the falling sky,

but those words
do explain,

why the sun warms
your face and
the rain clouds our day.

for a million years
i thought this feeling
only ever came,

when spring blossomed

and winter died,

when roses withered,

and lavender dried.

but apparently it also manifest in my mind, whenever we drive...

through valleys
and caves,
under the stars,
our heart within range,
of the dreams
that we've spun.

we've got time to waste,
days to lose,
memories to make
and books
to lift our moods.

you can set my soul
on fire,
just by
kissing my cheek.

and you can burn
my lungs up,
just by listening
to me
when i speak...

and when
you hold my words
close to your heart,
my eyes light up,

'cause you're my spark.

drowning,
drowsy days is what
i thought all days
looked like...

but you showed me
that between
drifting clouds,
and dark energy,

there's light
that sets us free.
