'AND'

there was once an us,

there  used to be a 'we',

there used to be little jokes,

silly smiles,

stories shared behind screens.

there was once an us,

there used to be a 'we',

our hearts, laid together

our minds and thoughts aligned,

so much more then the eye could see.

there was once an us,

there used to be a 'we',

now there's you,

and there's me.

but our knees no longer

touch underneath the table

and our fingers no longer intertwine.

our body parts won't work together.

there's stumbling,

mumbling,

no more little smiles.

there's you,

and then there's me.

the & no longer exists,

there's just a space in between.

now there's you,

and then there's me.

hope brought us together,

faith set us 'free'.
