Chapter 9

After Hunter had spent hours with Elijah, he had begun to get fussy so we put him back down for a nap. He seemed to be a sleeper.

Now Hunter and I were both just chilling in the living room together. The silence between us and the tv in the background just seemed so peaceful right now.

"I want to be here for him Bella." I took in a breath. I knew this conversation was coming.

"What about your work. You're in America."

"I'm trying to get connections and start to make the company international. I'd like the first one to be here in London. I could be here for months at a time."

"I get that and what about when Elijah gets older."

"Then I'll be here more permanently. I want to be here for you Bella and him."

"I don't know Hunter."

"Please just consider it." I nodded and let out a breath. Would it be so bad?

The door opened quietly and Joe walked in. He saw us both sitting in the living room and joined us.

"How'd it go?"

"Great, I think Hunter's going to be here him to Joe." I glanced over at Hunter who looked ecstatic. I couldn't help but let my lips turn upward a little.

"That'll be amazing for all of us." Joe let out a sigh of relief. I knew it was exhausting for him.

2 months later

"Joe I have to go back to America for a few days."

"Why what's happened?"

"Meadow she's gone into labor and I promised her I would be there for her." Joe nodded and got up to help me pack.

"Are you going to be ok with Elijah? Should I call Hunter?"

"I've got things covered. Don't worry Bella. Just go be there for your friend." He smiled and kissed me. "Be safe love you."

"Love you too." I put on my jacket and quickly got in my cab to go to the airport.

When I finally got to Meadow she was sleeping in her hospital bed. Nolan sitting beside her holding her hand while also looking exhausted. As if he just gave birth.

"How is she?" I asked Nolan.

"She's alright. There were some complications but everything is ok now. Parker is with the nurse now." Parker what an adorable name.

I took a seat on the small couch on the other side of the room. I was out of breath from rushing here to the hospital after getting off the plane. I practically threw my bags in the hotel room.

"Bella?" I looked up and Meadow was smiling at me. I got up and went to her other side. "God I don't know how you did that and I wasn't even there to help afterward. I feel so exhausted."

"If you didn't I'd be worried," I laughed.

"I want you to be his godmother Bella. If anything happens to me or Nolan-"

"You say that like something will happen. You two are going to be amazing parents."

"I hope so. I'm nervous I wish you lived here Bella."

"I know, but things are just better for me right now with Elijah and you know." She nodded understandingly. "Maybe one day Meadow."
