Chapter 32

2 years later

"Hunter!" I yelled from Eli's bedroom. It took a few seconds but Hunter finally showed up in the doorway. "Do you know where Eli's toy truck is?"

He stepped into the room and looked around in his bed.

"I don't see it, have you checked the car?" I shook my head and finished slipping Eli's shirt over his head.

"Can you please go check, you know he won't do anything without it."

"I know I'll go check." He left the room quickly as I tried to prolong getting Eli dressed. We don't need another day like last week. He freaked out because he couldn't find it.

A few minutes later Hunter came back with the truck in his hands. I sighed in relief and gave it to Eli.

"Mommy, where are we going?" He asked as he fidgeted with his truck.

"We are going," I picked up the extra toys on the floor. "to Aunt Meadow's house to play with Parker."

"Parker?!" He asked excitedly. It's been a month or so since we've visited them. Meadow wanted to talk to me about some things as well.

"Yes buddy," I laughed softly. "Now come on let's go." I held out my hand for him to take which he did. We walked downstairs where Hunter was getting ready for work.

"We're gonna head out Hunter," he looked over at me and finished fixing his tie in the mirror. He walked over to us and bent down to Eli.

"You be good for your mom ok? and have fun." He tickled Eli who nodded as he laughed. When he stood back up he leaned in to kiss me on the cheek.

"What was that?" I laughed and kissed him on the lips. "That's better. You should come by after work."

"I'll see if I can finish up early. Meadow's place?"

"Yea the beach house." I smiled and kissed him again.

"Alright, I'll try. Have fun." I grabbed my purse off of the side table and opened the front door. Eli and I got into the car and waited for the driver to start driving.

An hour or so later we finally got to the beach house where we could see Parker playing outside with Meadow. More like Parker running around and Meadow sitting on the steps.

Elijah wanted to jump out of the car as soon as it stopped. I helped him unbuckle and get out of the car before he ran to Parker. I lagged behind a little to get our few bags from the car.

"Hey girl," Meadow laughed as she came up behind me. I put the strap on my shoulder and shut the door.

"Hey," I smiled and hugged her. "How have you been?"

"Honestly really stressed but I needed today. How about you?"

"Pretty good actually. I can't complain." Meadow and I talked as she took me inside to put our things away. The boys had gone to the backyard to play where Nolan was sitting with his own friends.

"Have you spoken to Lenny lately?" I asked as I drank some fruit punch she had made.

"Yea he's in Germany right now. Looking for inspirations for his next line."

"No way."

"He is, he sent me a postcard or two. Did you not get any?" Once I thought about it, I never did.

"No," I said disappointed. Why wouldn't he send me anything?

"Oh, I'll have to talk to him about it." I nodded but I wouldn't tell her anything about how I was feeling right now.

For the next few hours Meadow and I were talking and keeping an eye on Parker and Elijah.

"There's no way-" a few knocks on the front door interrupted Meadow. We both turned our heads to look at the door but she finally got up to get it.

I tried leaning back in my chair to get a look at the door. I could hear Meadow talking with the person before she let them in.

My face lit up when I saw it was Hunter. I got up from my chair and went over to them. I saw Hunter's face light up and he met me and hugged me.

"Hey,"

"He-"

"DADDY!" We heard footsteps coming up behind us and saw Elijah come running over. He hugged Hunter's legs and Hunter bent down to hug him back.

"Hey buddy," Hunter picked him up and started talking to him. I smiled at Hunter. He was such a good person. When he was done talking to Elijah he looked at me and kissed me.

I saw Meadow give me a lookout of the corner of her eye. I just shook my head signaling that we would talk later. she seems to understand. Soon Hunter joined go limb and his friend out in the back

Parker and Eliza stayed inside to play with some of Parker's toys. Meadow and I will keep an eye on the both of them while they play.

Apparently, Meadow and I were in charge of dinner which was just great. After a little bit of talking Meadow and I decided on just ordering a couple of pizzas for everyone. Neither of us knew how to cook.
