The next day, I woke up abruptly and feeling empty. Agad akong nagtungo sa banyo para makaligo na dahil may pasok pa. Right after I'm done, I wore some jeans, snickers and printed button down shirt. Typical of me, and then I stared at my own reflection in the mirror. I nearly laughed at myself as I noticed how dweeb I can be.
Bumaba ako at naabutan si Mama at Papa na nag-aagahan na. Kumuha ako ng tinapay at nutella, tapos ay nagsalin ng juice sa baso. Pagkatapos kong kainin ang sandwich ay nagpa-alam na ako kina Mama at Papa na aalis na ako.
They threw me a questioning look but I just ignored it.
"Kath!" napatingin ako kay Calvin na tumawag sa akin. Ngumiti ako at kumaway.
"Papasok ka na?" He also look at me with confusion as if there's something weird with what I just asked, he nodded slowly and raised me one brow, "Great! Pasabay ha?" marahan siyang humalakhak at tumango.
"DJ must be busy?" he asked as I hopped inside his car. I just nodded even if I don't know exactly what DJ is doing at this very moment.
"You're a blessing in disguise, Calvin." Sinimangutan ako ni Calvin at sarkastikong tumawa.
"You have a problem."
Kilala na niya ako. Pero ayoko munang magsalita tungkol sa bagay na ito kahit na kanino.
"What?" I asked and even fake a laugh.
"Your nose is growing," he said while raising me one brow, I look at him with confusion, "and I thought it was Pinnochio whose nose grew when he lied." I rolled my eyes at him.
"Do I need to laugh at your humor now, or is that even a humor?"
"Come on, Kath. Parang hindi naman tayo magkaibigan ng mahigit sampung taon niyan." Bumuntong hininga ako.
"I'm sorry Calvin, but I just can't spill anything right now knowing it concerns him."
"If you say so."
Hindi naman nagatagal ay nakarating kami sa university.
Time passes by and I didn't see any hint of DJ. Not even his shadow. Pagkatapos ng klase ay hindi na ako sumabay kumain sa mga kaibigan namin, nagpaalam na lang ako kay Lara na uuwi na ako dahil pagod ako.
Hindi ko alam pero pakiramdam ko ay hindi kumpleto ang araw ko. If he needs time, then so be it. As long as after this, he'll learn to forgive and forget.
Days have turned fast. DJ's keep on texting me but this time, I was ignoring the whole messages he's giving. He keeps on saying sorry, he even keeps on trying to get near me at school, trying to get and send me home, trying to have a date on me, but I'm ignoring him.
The tables have turned. I don't even know if what I did to deserve a cold treatment from him for the next two days after the dinner with his family. I am his girlfriend for only Pete's sake. Maybe, just maybe I don't have the right to add myself up in the picture since the matter is between him and his family.
Pero habang buhay na lang ba na gano'n ang pakikitungo niya sa mga magulang niya?
"Kath, ready?" nakangiting tanong ni Rain. Ngayon na magsisimula ang part time ko sa Double Deuce. Ngumiti na lang ako kay Rain at tumango.
Kay Calvin ako sumabay papunta rito. Hanggang ngayon ay halata pa rin sa mukha niya na nais niyang malaman kung ano ba talaga ang nangyayari sa amin ni DJ pero mas pinipili na lang niyang maging tahimik.
