When we found Steve he was standing on one of those things that projected your face on the body of a soilder, only Steve's face barley even reached his chin. "Come on youre kind of missing the point of a double date, we're taking the girls dancing" James said as we appeared behind him.
"Correction you two are going dancing while I sit on the side completely alone and wishing I had a different brother" I said.
James placed a hand over his heart "you love me really."
I shrugged "fifty percent of the time."
"Only fifty."
"Sixty on a good day" we both smiled at each other before turning to Steve "so are you coming."
"Ah, no you two go ahead I'll catch up with you."
Me and James casted a glance at each other "your really going to do this again" I sighed.
"Well it's a fair, I'm gonna try my luck" he replied.
"As who? Steve from Ohio? They'll catch you or worse they'll actually take you" James said.
"Look I know neither of you think I can do this-"
"Of course we think you can do this but we care about you more. Look this isn't some back alley Steve it's war" I yelled throwing my hands up.
"I know it's a war Dotty you don't have to tell me."
"Why are you so keen to fight? There are so many important jobs" James said.
"What am I gonna do? Collect scrap metal?"
"Yes" me and James yelled.
"I'm my little red wagon-"
"We're not saying that" I said at the same time James said "why not" causing me to slightly glare at him.
"I'm not gonna sit in a factory guys."
"I don't-"
"Bucky, Dotty come on" Steve said interrupting us, even with our loud voices nobody was paying attention to us "there are men laying down their lives. I got no right to do any less than them that's what you don't understand."
"Right cause you got nothing to prove" James started.
"To anyone, especially not to us, especially not to me" I finished, me and Steve held eye contact until a voice startled us both.
